I recall a while back a lot of ppl on here saying the had never seen it, or only seen it once live and never in syndication. My channel guide (so apologies if incorrect, not my fault) is showing that it's coming on tbs at 5 central. Just a heads up.

very strange episode. I thought I saw all the episodes until I ran across this one on HULU.

I know for sure I've seen it in syndication before, at least twice before today. But yeah compared to the several hundred I've seen the others they definitely are intentional in not showing it.

They just showed it unedited including the flag stomp out. Interesting.

I had only seen it once or twice prior to today. It's a fairly week episode though overall not missing much not having it in the regular rotation.

from wiki

quote:

Because of controversy surrounding a scene in which Cosmo Kramer accidentally burns and then stomps on the Puerto Rican flag, NBC was forced to apologize and had it banned from airing on the network again. Also, it was not initially part of the syndicated package. In the summer of 2002, the episode started to appear with the flag-burning sequence intact.

so yeah, still in syndication just not shown much I guess

The apartment scenes with all three aliases are pretty good.

The episode I love (that I NEVER catch) is The Abstinence S8E9, the one where George can't have sex and becomes a genius, and Elaine stops having sex and becomes an idiot, Kramer wants to sue big tobacco, and Jerry does standup at his old high school.

So many great lines from George in that one. Speaks Portuguese and gives Yankees hitting tips.

No need to treat this as some rarity; I'm pretty sure it's a big myth that the episode was banned in any long-term way. It was pulled from the subsequent summer repeats, but that's it. It's always been part of syndicated circulation as far as I know.

Hell, there are people on here who will still fight you claiming it is banned to this date.

Ok big timer. How many times have you seen this ep in syndication? How many times have you seen every other ep in syndication?

I have never claimed it's been banned, and said I've seen it on reruns a few times. But it is a stone cold fact that it isn't in the rotation like all the other eps are. For as often as I watch seinfeld, which is essentially every day, for me to have only seen this episode rerun less than 5 times in the last 10 years shows that it is "a rarity".

Yeah, it most definitely does not come on nearly as often as the others.

TBS deffinitly shows the same 20-30 episodes a exponentially higher amount than they do the rest of the series

I've watched it in syndication for a long time and when I finally got a chance to watch it sequentially in order, there was an entire seasons worth that I had never seen before
