2nd greatest show created by Larry David.

yeah i mean it was probably the GOAT, especially in terms of generations, when it was on
but it has been surpassed by others, like Curb
Peep Show is the funniest show i've ever seen. i will give Seinfeld credit though, as its analysis of social interactions and expectations paved the way for shows like Curb, IASIP, and Peep Show...i just think they did them better

It is the greatest show ever, for a multitude of reasons. Don't really want to make the effort to write a long essay but for me the biggest is the rewatchability across multiple generations. Yes obviously we don't have beepers anymore and things like that, but 100 years from now just about every current show is going to have SOME dated references.
What I mean though is that whether it was in the 90s during initial run, or 10 years ago (10 years after the finale), or present day, or 20 years from now, the humor still holds up. And not just for a nostalgic factor for those with fond memories of it, but right now you could sit down a 15 year old and a 65 year old and they'd both love it. There are just so many real life situations that humans experience that are so humorously captured by the show that it is relatable for anybody. Take I love Lucy, MASH, the Honeymooners, Arrested Development, always sunny, the simpsons, or any other great/funny show and sit down two people 20 years from now, with a 50 year gap in age, and you'd be hard pressed to find a show that will be as universally well received as Seinfeld.

I want all my downvoters to know that they are on the wrong side of history.

It was the greatest cable sitcom ever made.... Until Always Sunny.

Historical probably a top ten GOAT sitcom, don't know where it would fall within the ten though.

Cheers is still the ultimate sitcom.
People forget Seinfeld had some bad years because they were a show about nothing...George and Jerry just talking to each other. Go back and watch earlier episodes...quite boring.
But Seinfeld had epic years...later when the entire ensemble and writing was crisp and every character had a storyline.
I mean, Seinfeld was #25 on the Nielsen rating after 3 years.
Then Seinfeld jumped from #25 to #3 in one year - and then to #1 in the next year.
Then #2 in the mid-90's until the finale.
1994-1995 Seinfeld is probably the apex of Seinfeld.
The Big Salad
The Race
The Switch
The Scofflaw
The Beard
The Jimmy
Fusilli Jerry
The Label Maker
The Soup Nazi
The Wink
The Maestro
The Sponge
The Marble Rye
Seven
The Calzone
The Gum
Kramer's Hot Tub
I mean, when we remember Seinfeld, we really tend to remember two years. 1994-1996.
Cheers was so consistent for a decade. Coach died and Woody took over and most people didn't blink. Diane left and then Kirstie Alley took over and most people didn't blink (or maybe rejoiced.)
Cheers maybe wasn't as innovative - but it knocked it out from day 1 and until the end. Unlike Seinfeld which was totally meh the first two years and then crumbled the last year and episode.
Seinfeld had real growing pains...and it eventually found it's perfect voice - which at its peak was sublime...but it was a short-lived total peak.

There are plenty of classic episodes from season 2-5, just as good or better than the ones you posted. I enjoyed every season, but as they were nearing the end, they were starting to enter "zany" and/or over the top territory...before then, IMO there was zero or little suspension of disbelief necessary, which is why I loved those earlier episodes so much.

It's the GOAT for me. I literally get home from work and turn TBS to on everyday and watch seinfeld. I still laugh at an episode that I've seen 100 times. The only show that can challenge it is the office but I have it right under seinfeld

Always liked it, but far from my favorite. Cheers, Community, SBTB, etc.
