I remember a lot of folks being surprised at the time that the movie had such adult themes for a comedy (keep in mind this was 1989). I think most folks thought it was just going to be a Steve Martin family movie with Ron Howard as director. It's a good movie.

In the first Shrek movie, Shrek walked up to Lord Farquaad's castle and said, "Do you think he's compensating for something?"
My family laughed and when I asked about it they just said, "when you're older you'll get it." Finally clicked a couple years after when I re-watched it.
Also, Lord Farquaad is an adult joke for Lord Fu**wad for those of you who haven't gotten it.

I didn't understand movies where edited when on TV. It was a very confusing time when I saw Free Willy 3 on VHS after TV.

I don't remember the movie, but the scene was a guy who had been cheating on his wife comes home and takes off his shirt. His back is all scratched up. His wife sees him and goes ape shite.
As a kid I had no idea what in the hell was happening. I remember asking my mom and she tried her hardest to explain it to me without getting in to any details. She was awkward as hell and just kinda mumbles that I needed to go get ready for bed.
