I've gotta think it's some large shot of all the heroes joining forces to fight Thanos. How many would that be, assuming they're all alive at that point and Thanos hasn't murdered any of them (looking at you Vision) to get a stone.

Iron Man
Captain America
Spider-Man
Thor
Hulk
Black Widow
Hawkeye
Vision
Scarlet Witch
Doctor Strange
Ant-Man
The Wasp?
Black Panther
War Machine
Falcon
Winter Soldier
Star-Lord
Groot
Drax
Gamora
Rocket
Nebula?

I'm at 22 and I'm not sure who else would be in that line up from the movies. Assuming this is Infinity War and Carol isn't Captain Marvel until her movie which is between Infinity War and Avengers 4, she's out. I guess it could be a scene of all the heroes talking to non hero figures about what to do, so you could add Nick Fury if he were in it, but I feel like he's never been announced in the cast.

I really hope they can capture the magnitude of Thanos on screen. I feel like he's been hyped up as the biggest baddie in movie history.

What's it been? Three or four movies that he's been mentioned?

You didn't include any villains. Thanos would count as one character. Not sure what other villains would appear.

Maybe some Ravagers would show up? Perhaps the Collector? Maybe an unnamed Watcher we all know to be Uatu? The Defenders?

ETA: Also Mantis, and I suspect they will introduce some characters in Black Panther who will be involed as well.

Michonne was just confirmed for Infinity War and she's just some secondary character in Black Panther. I'm sure there will be other minor characters no one would consider.

Well, first she's acting like she doubled up on her adderall, then hit the bong. Second, she says there's like 60 to 61 characters in a scene. Then when Cobert was like wow, she reduced it down to 30ish. Third, she still smoking hot, except for that hair cut.

So basically take what she said with a grain of salt. It may not be 30 Marvel Super Heroes, it's probably 30ish Marvel characters

Probably the supporting characters from Asgard as well (assuming they all live through ragnarok)

Loki is almost definitely in, IMO. On the good guy's side.

Red Skull is probably over 50% chance of being in- he vanished into the Tesseract, so we don't have positive proof he's dead in Cap America. I think he's going to be on Thanos' side.

The guy who inherited Yondu's arrow is highly likely, as is Mantis.
Figure that Stallone gets another cameo too, I bet he didn't join the MCU just to get left out of the biggest film of the batch.

That count would get us to 27, with Red Skull and Stallone being the 2 least likely to show.

A brief glimpse of the various Netflix heroes and the AOS crew pushes us over 30, easily. If Thanos is approaching the Earth, it would make sense for them to at least look up into the sky.

I realize the Marvel movies try to stay separate from their TV shows, but if you add either Agents if Shield, the Netflicks gang or the upcoming Inhumans show, you'll get to 30ish Super Heroes.

Ragnorak comes out before infinity wars, right?

I'd assume that they introduce some new characters in the new Thor that will be sticking around for the ensemble

Odin
Valkyrie
Hela (I think to keep things simple, SHE'S the "Death" Thanos is courting)

Adam Warlock

Grandmaster
Collector
Howard the Duck???
Astro???

Mantis and the ravager that inherited Yondu's arrow are almost a given.

Stan Lee may actually be TOAA in this film

So am I the only one who has a problem with this? I saw a picture from Atlanta's Pinewood Studios not more than a month ago that showed 50 trailers in a parking lot containing an individual cast member . There are way too many people in this film to tell a coherent story and do it justice. But so long as it has a semi-coherent story and bright shiny explosions and catchy one-liners, a majority of you will end up liking it.

That's the rule of thumb. But I can see how it can be made to work.

1) Its a multi part movie.

2) You saw the formula in the first avenger's movie. The introductions are made. The character arcs are established and developing. The villian, motivation, and McGuffins are already established.

Everything is in place.

This allows the story to take a massive jump start. There is no real need for a preamble. The first scene can be Thanos starting to wreck shite at Nova Prime for the stone, and the narrative works. No exposition, just immediate explosions and tensions.

Its going to be a 2 hour long build up and climax. Remember the constant tension high the first time you saw TDK in theaters? That.

Well... for one thing, it's a comic book movie, so I'm not looking for it to be a staid drama. I expect and want action, in my action movies.

Also- leading into this film, there will have been:
3 Thor standalone movies
3 Captain America standalone movies
3 Iron Man standalone movies
2 Avengers movies
2 Guardians of the Galaxy movies
Antman
Dr Strange
Black Panther
Hulk
A Spider-man movie building off the character as seen in Capt America 3

Is there more? If not, that's 18 movies, that have been dedicated to introducing and developing these various characters. At this point, I think I have a pretty good handle on Tony Stark, from his diet (he drinks a lot of smoothies), his wardrobe (he likes rose-tinted glasses and Black Sabbath tee shirts, his cars (he likes hot rods and particularly, the Audi A10), etc. Heck, I'm confident that he doesn't sleep more than an hour or so a night, and that's never been explicitly shown.

We can discuss Steve Rogers in similar detail. Thor? What little we don't yet know about him, I'm pretty sure will be filled in the next movie, but there ain't a lot left there either.

How about a lesser character- say, Black Widow? She's been prominent in 5 films to date. She drives a Vette, acts like a know-it-all, is sterile, regrets her past, is close to Hawkeye's family, yada yada.
Hawkeye; like Black Widow, no movie of his own. We've seen his home life, seen that he's a bit tired and cynical about this all, but that he will step up out of a sense of duty. We've even seen him mind-controlled once by Loki, and thus more aversive of Scarlett Witch's powers because of that.

The bad guy, Thanos? So far, without ever leaving his seat, we have learned that even without the Infinity Stones, he's considered a bad mofo that intimidates Loki, Ronan without the Infinity Stone, Gamora and Nebula, and that Drax is also in over his head vs, per all accounts. Ronan, WITH the Infinity Stone, just pissed him off, didn't frighten him.

Seriously- you don't NEED further character development, at this point, any more than you need it in, say, Game of Thrones. We know these people.

I'm ready for the big throwdown.
