Immensely talented, had a hellish early life due to abusive family situation and undiagnosed mental illness. In the eighties, married an Army sergeant who was a technical advisor on one of her movies, and finally seemed to find happiness and stability. RIP.

Interestingly my history professor mentioned her today when talking about Helen Keller because she played Helen when she was young and then when she was older she played Helen' nurse Annie in the remake.

RIP, she was a great actress.

I had no idea she was Sean Astin's mom. Wow.

I used to watch Patty Duke reruns when I was a kid. RIP.

I remember that period when she was referred to as Patty Duke-Astin. Gomez is 16 years older. She never thought the fat hobbit was his, although Gomez raised him just like he did Wednesday and Pugsly. She thought Little Ricky was the biological father, but, turns out it was her pre-Gomez husband, William Tell (not of the Lone Ranger Overture, but another guy), who was the biological father of Samwise - and that marriage was annulled.

One hates to speak ill of the dead, but she kind of "got around" as the kids say.

RIP, regardless. Talented lady.

I'm really sorry to read this. She still had some good acting years left at her age. Very talented woman. Hard life for a long time and probably why she was married so many times before the last marriage.

I've seen both the Helen Keller movies she was in. She was so good in both of them.

Gone too young. Rest in peace.

I always liked her growing up. Will always remember her as Patty Duke-Astin. Sean Astin always seemed like a grounded guy and you have to attribute some of that to her. Anyway, way too young. RIP

You could shorten your post to read: Rest in peace, whore.

Goonies saved him. That kiss with Kerri Green set him straight.
