Recommend me an Alan Wake/Stephen King/Half-Life movie?

As the title says, I want a movie drenched in disperation with a hopeless ending narrated by a character who finds himself much to late.

Will Smiths version was much more bleak, but the ending sucked. Omega Man is cheesy but with the better ending.

It doesn't have to fit the profile completely.
I just finished the HL2 series for probably the 20th time since 04-05. The feeling from that game I never experienced fully in a movie but would love to.
FYI, the Half-Life series was developed with the theme of Stephen King's The Fog in mind. Valve did an awesome job relaying that feeling.
