“Battlestar Galactica” is coming to the big screen. Universal is planning to reboot the sci-fi franchise, with Glen A. Larson, who created the original 1970s series, set to produce. Jack Paglen will write the screenplay for the film, which is designed to completely reinvent the franchise.

And I'm sure you're pleased to see another reboot of BSG.

Why would they need to completely reinvent a series that was reinvented just 10 years ago? Also, it seems like it'd be pretty hard to pack anything meaningful into 2 hours compared to the series reboot.

I'm guessing they are going to use the new movie as a starting point for either a movie franchise or a new TV series or both. Essentially the Star Trek model. Not sure why they would reboot rather than using the exisitng universe in place. Maybe they have to do something or they will lose the rights, similar to Sony and Fox with the Marvel properties?

Rewatching the 2004 reboot now, can't imagine why they'd reboot it again.

Maybe they can go back in time and talk about the beginning of the Cylon war. There's a good story there to tell. I'm just so sure....

I'm a huge fan of the BSG reboot series. This seems like a disaster in waiting.
