To be fair, a lot of people probably lost interest or almost did in BB because of the characters. Don't get me wrong, they're excellent from a acting perspective, but they're all awful, unlikable people. There are likable villains, and perhaps it changed in later seasons, but early on they were drab, miserable folks.
I'll admit that for part of BB, I didn't really enjoy the show. I was obsessed with it and invested in the story, but it wasn't "fun." That changed later, and it in no way detracts from how good the series was.

She was so bad that Family Guy did a skit about Bryan Cranston's character snapping and killing her, and Cranston voiced the character.

Agreed. I actually dreaded new episodes early on despite being very much bought in to the story, simply because everyone led such a miserable, shite life.

Skylar-Nice guy husband who she beat down and could never appreciate, fricked around and was a miserable count all around.
Carmela-Tough situation but she signed up for it, tried to be the good wife here and there. Annoying but at least she tried.
Don't know the others.

They were reasonable until she started cooking Ted's books both literally and figuratively.
