Had Anakin not killed Dooku, he could have been screwed. Of course, they were captured by Grievous after that so it is likely that he is killed then or gets away.

I kind of think that Dooku, even if captured, would not have told the full truth because he knew the Jedi were fools and would rather see the sith in charge even at the expense of his own life.

Hell, Dooku may have even known that his endgame would be his death at the end of the clone wars.
