Question for Big Brother fans regarding casting

I was going to post in the season thread, but with a new episode tonight it'd be buried and forgotten in a few hours but I wanted people's take.
I'm only 30, but I feel like I have developed an old curmudgeon "get off my lawn" mentality with the casting. Used to be, when I would tell people about BB they'd say "so it's kinda like real world?" and I would say "yeah similar, but not geared towards MTV teenagers with a bunch of 20 year olds only there for sex and drama. It's more for regular adults and how they strategize against each other". But now that doesn't really seem to be the case anymore. Look at this new class:
Bronte- mid 20s, decently attractive
paulie- late 20s, attractive
zakiyah- mid 20s, attractive
glenn- 50s, the token older guy
natalie- mid 20s, attractive
victor- mid 20s, attractive
bridgette- mid 20s, regular person
jozea- mid 20s, token gay but attractive
tiffany- early 30s, attractive
corey- mid 20s, attractive
michelle- early 20s, attractive
paul- early 20s, token wildcard
You basically only have 2 people that look like everyday folks you'd see out on the street. Used to be you'd have to pick out the 1 or 2 hot ones, now you have to pick out the 1 or 2 normal ones. Now, I'm not an idiot and I realize that psychologically people are more drawn to watch good looking people than uggos. But what really drew me into Big Brother the first time I watched years ago was that it was just normal people like you or me. YOu still had your token characters like you do now, but they were all over the place. You had a couple hot people, some older folks, handful of fat people, wide span of age ranges. And heck this year they don't even have the nerd character like ian or mcrae. This year there's only 2 of 12 new cast members over 30.
I don't know...it just seems to me that BB is now slowly getting pulled into the abyss of the greedy money-hungry broadcasting corporation and getting away from what made it so great to begin with. I'm not saying I want only ugly people on there, but geez does it HAVE to be so much like the RW or some summertime magazine shoot?
And CBS tried to play up all this to boot. From the opening 2 minutes last night, half the people when they found their key were in bathing suits or working out or shirtless somehow. They made sure to ask them all if they were single, we need to know that. They also asked contestants if they'd be up for a showmance. It just seems like this stuff should be beneath BB.
I'm rambling here and don't even know where this train of thought is going, just wanted to vent a little. Does anyone else feel similar?

The year with Jerry and Remy was the only year with multiple old folks, right?

Not sure. Here are the amount of people 30+ in the last 5 seasons:
17: 4
16: 3
15: 3
14: 4 (out of 12)
13: 5 (out of 8)
I guess my point was less to do with age and more to do with appearance. I like looking at hot girls as much as the next guy but I can do that on the internet or at home or anywhere. With BB I jsut want to see 16 normal, regular, average joe blows thrown in a house together and watch them scheme.

We only got a glimpse of these people last night. Once they settle in to the house and the cameras are not so mind controlling , most people don't look as good as they did on night 1. I don't agree , at all , about the attractiveness part of your post , but I do wish they would have more of a mix of age in the house.

needs to be more variety. someone with kids. someone married someone that did this does that blah blah.
not hey if you are 25 averagely attractive and teach school then come on!

Yeah, I felt the same things you felt last night.
It was always a couple hotties, couple of young single dudes, the tokens (black, gay, nerd, old person), and the rest were just normal folks... And usually, all of the tokens were intelligent and occasionally the beautiful people were too.
Like, which one of these bitches is a candidate to be the good old fashioned American Sweetheart? None of them...
Oh well, it's still entertaining. I think I finally showed my fiancé a show we can enjoy together.

The audience for these shows are chicks and gays. CBS is giving them the cast they want.

Big Brother is just trash reality TV.

I've never watched Big Brother but is the fact that they have to commit for like 3 months part of it?
Posted on 6/23/16 at 4:49 pm to craigbiggio
Nah, they used to have doctors, farmers, policemen, people in sales, etc... Normal people.

I just couldn't imagine asking my boss for 3 months off to go on the show. Maybe mentioning I'll be on national television with a chance at 500K will sway his opinion

I've noticed the cast has been getting younger and more attractive every year. I think they're trying to find their next Jeff and Jordan.
