watched it the other night, thought the plot was stupid when I heard about it, but its pretty entertaining.
my question is

1. Why did the General send Cage into battle to get killed and basically frick him over?

2 - if Cage was the military spokesman, in charge of all media operations, how did no one recognize him?

Isn't the base insanely secure? No calls in, no calls out. There's a chance his celebrity as a recruiter never made it there.

And Cage gets sent in to cover the war. He's essentially a journalist.

they secured the base because they were about to ship out, i am just assuming he had been the face of the military for a long period of time.

also is the reason all the other soldiers hate him because they think he is a deserter? or do they have orders to just let him die?

so do you think he was originally being sent in to cover the fight, as a journalist. then he tried to blackmail the general and ran away from the cops, making him a deserter... therefor the reason for him getting fricked over being completely logical?

hmm, simple enough it might be true.

I think he was a PR guy and former advertising exec who was asked to document the war. He declines and blackmails, and the general flexes his muscles.

2nd question I don't know. 1st question, it was because Cage basically threatened to blackmail him.

I believe she says she felt it "leave" her. Also when it "leaves" Cage, there is something that happens with his eyes and he says he knows he no longer has it.

ETA: it "leaves" Cage when he gets a blood transfusion after he's injured.

What about the end? This could be referring to a number of things.

kige the other answers saying it was payback for the attempted blackmail

If you ran into this man would you recognize and place his identity?

Granted it is a flaw in the movie for no one, including EB to recognize him, but very few young people watch enough news to recognize people with this job description - so it is less of a stretch than you might think (esp if people were given specific orders RE: his treatment)
