In 2003 disney also released Brother Bear, a commercial disappointment and critical dud that had prognosticators of the time wondering if disney should stop trying the animated movie thing. Lilo and Stitch had disappointed the year before, and Atlantis had tanked in 2001. They still had Home on the Range and The Wild, in 2004 and 2006, to fully find rock bottom (Chicken Little did pretty well in '05).

They also released The Haunted Mansion that year, another expensive, star-driven "adaptation" of a ride that didn't work and was considered a financial disappointment.

Some disney films in the mid-2000s made a bunch of money and were well-liked. A bunch of other disney films from that era were bombs and disappointments, or they were hated, and many have been forgotten because they were mediocre trifles.

It’s crazy to see how far Disney has fallen. They could print money in the mid 2000s.

All the sequels were absolute trash.

CotBP was amazing, however.

Great memory of seeing my 11 year old son jump higher than he ever has when that monkey popped up at the ending of that movie.
