This could quite possibly be the stupidest movie I've seen in awhile. Christ, who told Seth Rogen he was funny?

careful now, when the movie first starting being advertised I and others pointed out it was another stupid, unfunny money grab by the rogan crew and were met with pages of pushback saying how hilarious it looked.

I mean, sexual innuendo amongst cartoon food, does it get any better than that!?!?!? /s

I liked it well enough, but it's not great. Here were my thoughts from the original thread about it:
quote:

Saw it over the weekend. It was funny at times, boring at times, and REALLY funny at times. But that being said, it wasn't overly good, if that makes sense.

I enjoyed it, but it definitely tried too hard to be vulgar in some places. I don't know if that took away from it per se, but it definitely felt really forced a good bit as opposed to being naturally funny. I did love that they threw in literally as many food puns as they could though...those were funny, even if obvious most of the time.

I agree with whoever it was that said they were glad they saw it but they don't really need to see it again. That's pretty much where I am, although I may watch it later down the road to catch some of the things that I may have missed.

Comparing it to Blazing Saddles is nothing more than a pure insult to that comedy classic though...whoever said that should be slapped immediately.

All in all, I'd give it about a 6.5/7-ish out of 10.

I basically feel like if you liked This is the End, then you'll prolly like Sausage Party, as it's a lot of the same people and the jokes/vulgarity are fairly on par with each other (although SP is more "tryhard" with it).

I haven't seen it yet, still want to, but it's not like I'm expecting some intellectual masterpiece.

Of course it's going to be dumb and vulgar and childish, but that doesn't mean it can't be entertaining

I know this is heresy, but I just have no interest in seeing him or hearing his voice. It has nothing to do with vulgarity because I can be disgusting; I just could never find him anywhere near as funny as he finds himself.

I had high expectations for it and was let down immensely. I first saw it about 2 weeks ago, and literally cant remember one funny part. Dont even really remember laughing. Pretty big disappointment in my book, and hated the religious bashing throughout the entire movie

"Gratuitously crude" doesn't automatically equate to "hilarious". The sex scene at the end was like he was trying to do a visual version of the old Aristocrats joke, except without the humor.

It had some moments that were funny, but all in all it was trying waaaaaaaaaay too hard and thus failed.

Honestly, I found the trailer funnier than the movie. They spent way too much time in the grocery store, and they ruined the build-up of the actual funny scene in the movie where the food is unexpectedly massacred. It would have worked better as a 10 minute short where the food is just tortured for about half of that.

The Douche was funny, but I think Team America was a lot better than this.

the sex scene at the end was absurdly over the top

pretty sure that was the point though

it was a movie about food becoming self aware and killing their gods, it deserved an absurd ending

The trailer made it seem so awesome. It was a big letdown in theaters. It was okay, just nowhere near as funny as I'd thought it be.

He'd already played The Douche on Parks and Rec. It was like every joke and casting was ridiculously lame and obvious. Except for Edward Norton doing his Woody Allen impression.
