I just started as well. I'm three episodes in, and I'm not sure what to make of it so far. It seems tailor made for Eva Green's creepy arse but gorgeous looks

I haven't seen season 2 yet. Am waiting for a chance to binge. How is season 2 to season 1 (season 1 was one of my favorite seasons of tv ever). One person told me season 2 is better and I know a bunch of people on here were complaining about the gay stuff but I'll just fast forward so no biggie to me.

is there a lot of sex and gay stuff? compare it to GoT as far as that goes? more/less? would you recommend to your mom(i ask because my mom loves GoT and was asking me about this today). we are both thinking of starting it

It's awesome, the character and plot development is worth the watch. PD has become one of my favorite series. I'm not much on superpowers etc but PD is the exception.

Well, i think GoT was much worse about that. GoT seemed gratuitous and completely disconnected from the story. In penny dreadful, there's one scene in season one where two characters kiss and Dorian greys character is seen with a bunch of shirtless dudes in sensuous imagery but at least that fits the story. If you know the story of Dorian very, you know he's a degenerate unable to say no to any lust and he has a power over people.
As for the story, a man is looking for his child and he needs help form an assortment of strange characters to help him. A somewhat accurate description I heard of the show recently was league of extraordinary gentleman as a horror show instead of an action comic.

Watch it and formulate your own opinion. It's dark as hell and it does have some gratuitous sex (even gay sex) but no more so than GoT in my opinion.

I'm a huge fan of this genre as well. I'm on season 2 and it has gotten even darker than season 1. And as far as the soft porn, there was almost an entire episode devoted to the secks (fast forward through the gay stuff). I'm purely in it for the story and the interesting characters at this point.

Well, that thread is entitled "Penny Dreadful: I can't go on" so of course it will be filled with shite talking.
I think it's a good show, but it is a bit disjointed. It's creepy and intriguing though, and the acting is really pretty good. Particularly Eva Green.

Quite bullshite really the gay thing was in a scene and there was a gay character but it was no worse then watching GOT. If you like the horror genre give it a go and you will probably enjoy it.

It's kind of a darker origins "league of extraordinary gentlemen"
With more of a horror twist..
First season is not bad.. Plenty of Eva breastisies.
Second season does a good job of furthered character development but it's mainly about Eva.
I'm hoping they get a chance to bring in other characters of old horror.. Dr. Jeckyl for one
