I hate the wizard of Oz. creeps me out and doesn't interest me. But aside from Mila Kunis' horrible casting, this movie was solid. Franco was perfect for the role.

Really? I thought Franco was terrible as usual. I never have a moment that I don't see him as Franco instead of the character he is playing.

Imagine a really talented actor in that role. The movie could have been great. Think about what Gene Wilder could have done with that role. Or someone still in their prime, like Sam Rockwell.

yeah i thought it was pretty bad too, but this thread almost had me wanting to re-watch it again just to make sure i wasn't being overly critical.

I like Franco. I know he's not highly regarded but I think I he's good.

Franco was a little disappointing to me. He was so good in some of his movies a few years ago I was thinking he was really ready to become the next Ledger or Hoffman (not dead). I guess it isn't meant to be.

Kunis was distractingly awful, as was the CGI.

I actually love Return to Oz more than the original Wizard of Oz.

I love them both, but Return is more my kind of movie. Off-beat, a little creepy. Loved it.

I hated Oz:TGaP. And I reallllly wanted to love it.

The beginning scenes before he gets to Oz were great and Franco's character overall was awesome, but as noted already the CGI backgrounds were horrendous and distracting.

Whatever happened to puppeteering and makeup? It can still be done well. Look at Pan's Labirynth.
