Outlander (spoilers)season3 episode 4
I thought the scenes with Jamie and Willie were sensational. The actress that played lady Geneva was spot on.

Good episode although it got a little "50 shades of grey" for me. Reminded me of season 1 with the prolonged sex scenes. I know it's a majority female viewership and that's why but still I think this show is best in other areas

this season is extremely slow. I can see that they dont even get back to each other until the final moments of the finale.

re: Outlander (spoilers)season3 episode 4
Just watched episode 4 last night.

I'm losing my interest in this show. I think my wife is too, but she wants to hang on as much as possible since it's the only show she's enjoyed in a long time.

For one, I've lost all sympathy for Claire. What a terrible, selfish person whose obsession with a particular person is completely unhealthy. The daughter just going along with it and supporting her is unbelievable. They even established that Claire was absent from her life and that Frank felt he could take her to England to get away from Claire. But now she completely believes her mom that she's a time traveler who has been broken away from her true love for 20 years? And that she should help this mentally ill woman find the guy so she can time travel back to him and find true happiness?

Frank was a good guy and Claire's first love. Maybe if the show established something wrong with Frank, I'd be rooting for Claire to get back to Jamie. But Frank and Claire seemed to have a similar amount of passion in episode one (remember the oral sex scene in the castle ruins?) as she and Jamie. But she's so wrapped up in Jamie that it's completely consumed her life.

I'm hoping that Jamie keeps sleeping with other girls (he's up to two now with one kid!) and that when they finally reconvene, Claire will have to question everything about her obsession.

"Jamie! I've been practically celibate since I left you!" "Yeah, uh, well, there was this servant girl...and a princess and we had a kid together...and I tried to get a dude to sleep with me for a favor...and...."

You would feel much differently if you read the books.

The child they casted to play Willie was perfect btw. Seeing the paternal side of Jamie was great as well.

Plenty of “awwwww” moments. Him fighting to not turn back when Willie was running after him crying broke your heart.

Yeah, the books make Frank out to be an a-hole.

I wouldn’t say a-hole...,just that we aren’t very sympathetic to his character in the books.

And that’s exactly what the show is missing - a reason to feel sorry for Claire having to be with Frank. It could have been really easy to do. Have him not believe her or have him be really cold to her despite them reconvening. Instead the show makes Frank a really loyal husband who hasn’t known happiness until his wife’s return. Once he finally realizes she’s completely infatuated with Jamie and will never actually be with him again does he move on. But even then, he stays married to her because it’s best for Claire and best for raising Claire’s daughter.

I felt sorry for Frank, much more so than Claire. First he believes Claire's story when most men would run for the hills at how crazy it sounds. Then he raises a kid that wasn't his and loves her like his own daughter while her mother is emotionally distant from everyone. Frank deserved love and happiness. I'm glad he found that in his side piece before he died.

I mean she did see Geillis Duncan go through the stones. Knowing that it's entirely plausible that she would believe her mother, who is an otherwise pretty intelligent/rational person, about her time traveling ramblings.

Listen, I'm not even remotely the biggest fan of Claire but I get it. Yes, Frank was her first love but how many times in life do we find that something we have with someone else after that "first love" is significantly more powerful?
