We could only hope this thing doesn't drag for 12 seasons. 8 seasons is usually the sweetspot for a successful show without stringing people along too much. At some point people continue to watch only b/c they have too much time invested to just give up on it.

I invested too much time reading the comics for them to end it after 3 more seasons.

Also, don't forget about the spinoff they are creating about a new group of survivors in a different part of the country that has no connection to the comics. shite should be on HBO or something though.

When it does start dragging, I'm hoping for more sex scenes with Maggie, as in the one where the Governor made her take off her blouse & bend over. That one scene carried me for the rest of the season.

This is why Game of Thrones is such a great show. GoT has tons of unknowns that we will find out eventually. These unknowns are built in the story. They drive the story and make audience wonder what will happen. Audience will find out eventually. GRRM/writers are not afraid of "oh if we tell them, people would lose interest in the show".

Seems like TWD writers are holding on to a secret "Wild Mushroom" soup recipe that they won't give out because by doing so, they are out of business.

The only unknowns that you will find out in TWD is how and when everybody will eventually die. They won't cure it and knowing how it started isn't going to add anything to the story.
