I think season 4 is definitely the best

I'm 3 episodes from the end and have watched the entire show in 4weeks.

That said, the first 4-5 episodes of season 4 were my least favorite.

Same here. I finally finished season 4 and only have season 5 left to watch. First half of season 4 dragged on; didn't start to get really good till the second half.

Definitely, and I enjoyed all the 'backstories' (trying not to say any spoilers/phrasing it as vaguely as I can).

I think the OP will notice that there's a lot of scenes that they'll show early on that don't have much significance that tie in greatly to other aspects/stories that occur in much later seasons. It's truly a great show, and it has so many interwoven aspects. IMO, Breaking Bad feels more like a long movie than a TV show; Vince Gilligan had a plan from day 1 and stuck to it, and that's why the show continued to get better and better. And hell, I still have season 5 left to watch, which everyone says is the GOAT season of the show.

No. I didn't start this show until summer this year, and it lived up to all the hype.

I hate the character of the DEA guy and his wife. I hate the way he acts.

There will always be "that guy" who thinks he sounds cool by saying it's overrated. I realize some just wont like the show but to act like it isn't that good because a lot of people hyped it because so many like it is preposterous

I agree. Very annoying.

Watched episode 3 and 4 last night. Plan to knock out an episode or two every night this week other than South Park Wednesdays.

You'd be surprised to what extent he winged the show. He had a basic outline but changed it a good bit. Somebody posted a link to a blog where a BB writer and Vince Gilligan discussed the show after the last episode.

Jesse was gonna die early and Gilligan had some crazy ideas about Walt capturing his killer and torturing him until the whole thing blew up and killed Walt Jr. The writers had to get together and talk him out of it.

Tio Salamanca was was gonna die after an episode or two.

Skyler was gonna commit suicide.

Gilligan says that they did the Denny's scene that starts of Season 5 to give them some a path to the finish but really had no idea how it would go. Walt was not wearing his wedding ring because it was expected that Skyler would be dead. That is why they used his weight loss to have him take the ring off and put it around his neck. They had to do that when they changed course. There were 5 alternate endings discussed in the blog.

One of the more interesting comments that Gilligan made was that the writers were very good at reviewing previous episodes and working old details into the new scripts. What looks like planning in many cases is backtracking instead.

In any case, the writing only got better as the show progressed and it was really in a class by itself for the last couple of seasons.

"My name is ASAC Schrader, and you can go frick yourself."

Yeah, his character was somewhat annoying at the start of the show but that was somewhat intentional. He was money in the last couple of seasons.

Wife and I DVR'd the marathon last week and just started it on the weekend. We are two episodes away from the end of season 2 now and holy shite does Walt have a massive decision to make at the beginning of the next episode.

Also anxious to see what the frick the guys in chemical suits are pulling out of the pool and driveway at Walt's place. There's no way he gets caught or killed in the next 2 episodes, but I assume they have to close out those teasers by then.

I'm wondering if he got busted at his house by the DEA to setup the next season.
