back in 1963 or 64, this is the result of a genetic modification of an astronaut whose assignment was to impersonate an alien species on earth, so that the planet would be shocked and terrified enough to make peace among the nations. Trouble is, he got off-message and ran amok for a bit until the deep state killed him. Seemed plausible to 14 year old me back then, and it scared the shite out of me then.

A Prog-Left dream come true today, if only... but a nightmare scenario for all the sane people on our planet.

After Alan Moore realized that his plot for Watchmen was very similar to this episode, he had Dave Gibbons include a shoutout to it in the story. It's playing on a TV in one of the scenes.

Loved me some Limits as much as Zone. Also liked the new Limits. Probably missed a bunch. One day need to watch them all.

Anytime I hear Outer Limits, I think of the after hours club outside of Lafayette.

Twillight Zone had some too.

False Flags...to control the population.

And they treat the subject matter as well, as a matter of fact...

Only later did conspiracy theory become a new phrase after the 60's to ridicule stuff like this in popular culture.

Alan Moore

I always wondered if he ever received credit for Ronald Reagan's 1987 "Unifying Alien Invasion" UN speech

The original WM series was published in 12 issues from Sept. 86 - Oct. 87. Not sure when the fake alien reveal happened, but the timelines are pretty close.

...I guess it's not impossible that Reagan saw this episode of TOL in the 60's either.
