Charlie spent some time with a motorcycle club prepping for the show. The president's son (also in the club) wore white tennis shoes. He was later killed in some kind of situation that didn't involve the club (road rage or something). The character Jax wears the shoes as a tribute to him. Charlie had become friendly with him.
He said he catches a lot of shite about the shoes from fans. Same as here...no biker would wear white (or any color) tennis shoes. His response was they wear whatever is comfortable for them. That kid (and Jax) like white tennis shoes.

This. Then he goes and caps the guy and claims he admitted to ratting, guessing that will come back to bite him in the arse once the true rat is revealed. This season just blows because there's no one to really root for, just a ton of pointless killings.

It's not really a person to root for but I think we all agree we are rooting for the moment Gemma gets killed, will be glorious

I think Nero killed the birds. He was quick to come up with a story of "who must have done it". Also, he is eager to get Gemma and the kids out of Charming, hence the "no son is safe".
