Billy stole the show. If you have to include a gay, handle it like Power Rangers instead of the over the top Lafou. The black ranger actor was definitely my least favorite. Still hate the Zord looks as well as Goldar. Part 2 should be about the evil green ranger with the ending credits introducing Zedd.

I agree with all of this.

I think the sequel will have Rita getting the green power coin back somehow using tommy. Seeing that she doesn't have ranger powers, she will use him against the rangers. The movie will end with Tommy coming to the good side, and the emergence of Lord Zedd.

If this weekend is a success, I'd expect them to announce a sequel release date Monday/Tuesday. They already have the story planned for the next 5 movies.

Hopefully she makes her moon palace with her being in space. They should have sealed her in a dumpster.

I'm on the fence about seeing it.

It seems like a total Transformers movie vibe to me where the 1st will be decent and the rest horribly bad.

Took my kids to see it, we aren't movie buffs. But it was really fun. They loved it.

Hope they introduce Rita's henchmen in the sequel (Squat, Baboo, Finster). I don't know why they didn't name that bully Bulk. There was a rumor the yellow ranger died in this but that didn't pan out. It would have been cool to have Aisha replace her. Can't wait for the Dragonzord.

I knew I'd like Billy after seeing the actor on Vice Principals.

I didn't plan on seeing this, but from the reception of the fans of the franchise, then yeah I'm going. And they've exceeded box office expectations by 10 million dollars, so we're getting a sequel.

That's cause there was a spoiler way ahead of time that a ranger died. So everyone assumed they were talking about the yellow ranger dying in the prologue, when in fact it was a different ranger later on(those who saw the movie know who I'm talking about).

As for the dragonzord, if you look at the scene where zordon sends them that nightmare at the beginning when the black smoke shows and all you see the dragonzord in the background.

Just got back. As a fan of the original series, I was pleasantly surprised at how good the movie was. I really hope Saban and co. get their sequel.

Power Rangers scores $40.5 Million Opening Weekend, comes in at #2

quote:

Just a little perspective on that number.

Ghostbusters 2016. Reboot. Summer blockbuster that people had been demanding for 25 years, with a production and advertising budget nearing $500 million, was marketed and advertised for over 6 months constantly, made $46 Million on it's opening weekend.

Power Rangers 2017. Reboot. No one really asked for it. Production and advertising budget less than half of GB16, first trailer dropped 2 months before the March release. Made $40 Million on it's opening weekend.

$500 million? Yeah right. The movie itself didn't cost over $200. I doubt an additional 300 was spent on advertising.

I just copy pasted, you're right. Movie budget was 144m, advertising was over 100m, so 250m total.

Director Paul Feig said GB would've had to make 500m to break even, i'm guessing that's where they got their number at.

Glad to hear the movie isn't a flop. Now it's time to make a new Masters of the Universe Movie.

I was surprised this movie got a PG13 rating. That's pretty ballsy for a Power Rangers film.

That said, I'm really not sure what was in the movie to warrant that rating.

Saw it, loved it, want more of it.

I need to check Kodi to see if its made its way there so I can watch it over and over and not pay 20 bucks a clip lol.

Fieg said the movie would have to make 500mm to be considered a success in the eyes of being a Hollywood blockbuster. This was said after all the negative feelings were coming in towards the movie. In a way he was saying they were set up to fail from the beginning which they were. As like other instances in today's world people miss quoted him saying the movie has to make 500MM to breakeven and wrote articles about it

Back on topic. Power Rangers was the most fun I've had at the theater since force awakens
