Crackpot Theory: I really really think his dad is his alter ego "Mr robot" given form. His dad(and well mom/younger self) later saying you're stuck with us(and other clues) gives credence.

This is what he really wanted and he can't accept it. I really want to see what happened right before the storys timeline started(Elliot and darlente were both in fsociety I believe) and also how the meds/therapy came into play.

If Elliot hadnt come up with this plan I still think e corp would have found white rose and still blame tyrell

My crackpot theory, and if you consider theories spoilers then look away..

Tyrell is one of Elliot's personalities. When Elliot and his sister came up with a grand plan to get back at E corp years ago they had him basically infiltrate the company under a false identity. But as we know, Elliot is nuts, and he soon split Tyrell into a completely different persona. To the point he even lived a different life. The fact Mr Robot said Elliot knew where Tyrell was this whole time, him waking up in Tyrells car, and what stood out to me most was Elliot's conversation with Tyrells wife. Elliot made it appear she was trying to get info from him, but I thought it was her realizing her husband lost his mind and trying to see who he thought he was. She looked troubled and even said she was concerned for her husband.

There are still several holes to be filled with this theory but its starting to make sense.

I think Tyrell is certainly Elliot. How else also could he be at Steel Mountain at the same time as the infiltration. Also note the conversation with Mr Robot/Tyrell where Robot tells him he knows his secret.

The first meeting also is telling. He says "why would a management type use linux" and whatnot as he realizes Tyrell has a lot in common with him (old habits he says). Also when he goes to the library to decrypt the sunglasses USB drive he says "he knows the password so that means i know the password"

theres a few more I cant point out right atm

Those are definitely good indications too.

The only problem I'm thinking are a couple of plot holes:

The meeting with Allsafe about the first hack. Even if Tyrell wasn't actually there, Colby was speaking directly to Elliot. Surely he would recognize him.

The second one that comes to mind is last nights episode when he goes to Tyrells office. Even if the secretary was just miffed or scared he was there, certainly others wouldve seen him or talked to him.

And the REALLY awkward scene with Elliot and Tyrell's wife (or ex-wife).

like the secretary telling Elliott that tyrell isn't at the office

I think "The Group" thinks that Tyrell is the one who created the hack, not Elliott. Maybe captured him

I want to believe that Tyrell and Elliott are two separate people and not just a show about all these characters that are in his head. So this idea could still exist that Tyrell has been captured.

Now that the season is over I'll be going back to rewatch to see what I might have missed at some point.

i think Tyrell being in elliotts head has like a 5% chance of being real. there are way too many scenes and actions taken by the two characters that would not fit together.

the finale was kind of meh, imo. yes the hack took place, which took about 10 minutes time. after that its just elliott freaking out mostly. there just wasnt much to the episode. itll be interesting to see where they take season 2 though.

I see no way that Tyrell is an alter ego and not a real character. There are too many places that Tyrell has been that would recognize Elliot.

It was a ballsy move to skip the execution of the hack, but I feel like they didn't go about it as well as they could have

I imagine we "see" it in the future.

Yeah, Tyrell is real.

Otherwise, in the finale Elliot showed up and asked his own assistant to speak to himself.

And Gideon went to Tyrell's office to meet with him. If Tyrell is Elliot, Gideon would not be sitting there talking about server 31.

He would be all "Hey! You're Elliot! What the frick?"

There are about 20 other instances that disprove the "Tyrell is Elliot" nonsense but I'm too lazy to type it all up.

The only people in Elliot's head are Mr. Robot (his dad) and us, the audience.

I agree Tyrell is real but at this point you cannot trust anything Elliot saw last episode.

I thought it was a somewhat disappointing finale. In addition to not showing the hack, I didn't think they did a good job of making me care about the fallout. I'm certainly interested to see the next season, though.

It may be that Elliot killed him with Chekhov's gun in the popcorn machine. I would be disappointed if Tyrell were not in the second season though.

I guess but how exciting is watching a dude type and shite. If the creators are truthful in that they know where this is going and first season is act one, I am happy with where it ended.

Elliot's side bitches were the best part of the show.

Cool little side note that I noticed. I watch Sunday morning a few weeks ago and they were doing a segment on the architecture of old banks. Where the funeral was filmed was gathom hall which use to be massive bank that got shut down.

I feel like the the gun in the popcorn machine definitely came into play during Elliot's three lost days as the camera focused on the popcorn machine in the final scene of Elliot and Tyrell in the arcade in the next to the last episode and they showed it being hidden there during the "Previously on Mr. Robot" scenes before the finale.

I could see something like Elliot didn't want to complete the hack, Elliot tries to get the gun and get rid of Tyrell, Tyrell overpowers Elliot and that conflict forces Mr. Robot to take over.

Mr. Robot and Tyrell complete the hack and Tyrell makes Mr. Robot do a little extra hacking that puts a bunch of money into Tyrell's possession or makes Tyrell the majority stock owner of Evil Corp or something.

But really Mr. Robot did something to frick Tyrell's world - maybe sending video footage of Tyrell murdering Sharon Knowles to the cops and her widower? So Tyrell is in the wind but he now knows what Elliot did in regards to the hack.

I love it because there are 1,000 different ways the story could go and with the whole Bilderberg/New World Order/Illuminati gathering at the end, we see there is a whole secret shadow world that Elliot will have to contend with, too.

Plus, Rami Malek is fine.

Some Mr Robot creator hints.

Sam Esmail: There is more that we're going to explore. Again, this concept of Elliot losing time applies retroactively. So he started fsociety and doesn't remember that. There's that meeting in that SUV with Tyrell, he obviously doesn't remember that. Were there other meetings with Tyrell? Those are questions we're going to raise. Among other questions. For me, that scene kind of works in the way that you're describing, as is, if there weren't any other meetings, but I think we're going to open it up for next season. I'm trying to be as spoiler-averse as possible, but that's the angle. There is a hint that we are giving that there may have been other conversations with Tyrell that Elliot's not aware of.
