you must still be in school, I don't see how anyone who has ever worked in an office could not find that movie funny

While I agree with the point you make, I thought this movie was hilarious long before I ever worked in an office environment.

I don't see how anyone could think Michael Bolton pretending to be cool, then turning back and punching the fax machine again just isn't funny...??

Peter Gibbons: What would you do if you had a million dollars?
Lawrence: I'll tell you what I'd do, man: two chicks at the same time, man.
Peter Gibbons: That's it? If you had a million dollars, you'd do two chicks at the same time?
Lawrence: Damn straight. I always wanted to do that, man. And I think if I were a millionaire I could hook that up, too; 'cause chicks dig dudes with money.
Peter Gibbons: Well, not all chicks.
Lawrence: Well, the type of chicks that'd double up on a dude like me do.
Peter Gibbons: Good point.
Lawrence: Well, what about you now? what would you do?
Peter Gibbons: Besides two chicks at the same time?
Lawrence: Well, yeah.
Peter Gibbons: Nothing.
Lawrence: Nothing, huh?
Peter Gibbons: I would relax... I would sit on my arse all day... I would do nothing.
Lawrence: Well, you don't need a million dollars to do nothing, man. Take a look at my cousin: he's broke, don't do shite.

That exchange is funny whether you work in an office, in a ditch, in a hospital, etc.

OK, there Mr. Defensive. Just pointing out that the movie is a satire of working in an office. If you've never worked in an office, which you obviously haven't, you won't have the frame of reference for what is being satirized. As cocomo points out, it's not a neccessity to get the jokes, but it sure helps.

"PC load letter?! WTF?"

It also was perfect for the end of the dot-com startup era. It's hard to describe how many companies started and failed in the span of just a few years. It perfectly nails that moment in time.

But, since you're 21, I forgot that you already know everything. My bad.

I was like 12 when this movie came out and found it hilarious so i don't think you need to work in an office to find it funny.

So here's your flair

working in an office helps but mostly you just have to have functioning, slightly above average sense of humor.

maybe if you weren't grinding out 100 hour work weeks in a non-office environment in your quest to land yourself squarely in the upper half of the average wage bracket for your age group you would have had time to stop and acquire one.

stop and smell the roses once in a while REDLiNE; life's too short.
