Re-watched again today on HBO. Just a great, great movie.

Mad props to Jake Gyllenhaal, Chris Cooper and Laura Darn.

Having family in coal country, it absolutely nails the mentality in some of those towns when it comes to earning your keep and getting out.

I always cry when they shoot off that last rocket.

Me, too. And they actually did the Appalachian accent pretty admirably. The ending with Isham's score and old home movies is straight-up feels.

One of the best movies I've seen. First time I watched it was a time i needed some inspiration.

The soundtrack is great too.

I went to high school with the douche in line talking about the rocket boys at the science fair when Homer goes to the Tennessee theater.

Bunch of us got to sit in the stands for the local science fair. Not the big one he wins the medal, the smaller one. It's all hazy in that one so you can't make out anyone and I was never in frame anyway.

Great movie, always rewatch when I see it on TV.

Tough to say. He was badass in American Beauty and Breach.

Scratch that, he's badass in absolutely everything.

Chris Cooper was excellent in Seabiscuit as well. One of the most underrated actors in Hollywood.

I remember most of the Science Fair footage was filmed at The Jacobs Building. They shot a lot of the footage around Oliver Springs and Petros, TN. You can also see Fountain City Elementary and Gresham Middle School. I thought the only time the Tennessee Theater was in it was them showing the outside when they went into the movies.

The book was by far my favorite book of all time. Reading that book was sadly probably my favorite part of elementary school. The movie was really really good too.

That's the part the guy I went to high school with was in, when he is in line outside it. He's the douchey guy, hard to miss, lol. Says something about liking the rocket exhibit at the science fair.
