Great- another thread for emotional young men to cry in. We don't have enough of that these days. It's all just too much.

My understanding is that it isn't a reboot, but that it will be set in the same "universe" as Oceans 11. It will be a cousin film.

Great- another thread for white knights to act all vagina in. Stick to the Ghostbusters' threads.

I honestly don't have much issue with this if Danny Ocean is involved and sets it up as a heist where a full crew of females is needed for some reason. Won't be much of a fan if it is just a full female cast for the sake of a full female cast.

Also, I would have thought they should go after Julia Roberts and let her get the team together if not Clooney.

I have no idea.

It's 2016, so we simply CAN'T have a major, hugely popular movie franchise dominated by males without forcing a new remake with females down America's throat.

Nevermind the fact they could simply make a robbery/heist movie with females with no problems! But no, we have to make an "Oceans" movie with females, because we simply can't have the dudes cornering that franchise name.

Let's see if they reboot Magic Mike in the same fashion.

Scruffy supports this, but wouldn't that just be a Showgirls reboot?

Then you'd spend the whole movie wondering why she or Clooney didn't call all the experts she/he knows who does this stuff.

First off, writers need to stop using "reboot" when it's actually a "spinoff" or continuing a movie universe. I have far less issue with something that's continuing/adding to the universe a series of movies exist in.

But I'll likely give it a look for the following reasons:

It has a decent cast (even if you don't like Mindy Kaling) with Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Helena Bonham Carter, Elizabeth Banks, and potentially Jennifer Lawrence. And they're apparently not remotely done in putting together a cast, which I'm willing to bet will attract some good talent.

Steven Soderbergh is totally behind it, working on it, and collabing with Gary Ross (The Hunger Games). That's comes across as sound for me. And it sounds like something they're been wanting to work on together:
quote:

“We’re different filmmakers, obviously, so there will be those differences, but one of the things I’m drawn to is the amazing tone Steven was able to create, and we discuss that a lot. We discuss the cinema a lot, the shooting style, the rhythm, the editing style, and the music. We discuss it all. I’m in no way trying to reinvent the tone, and I’m thrilled and honored to be extending it. It’s really fun to work with.”

And let's not act like the Oceans trilogy is really some untouchable thing. It's an entertaining series of movies. Nobody is angling for the sake of "diversifying" any awards shows or diversifying a franchise.

exactly.

what we are getting is a spinoff of a decent but not incredible heist trilogy that started as a remake of a very mediocre Sinatra flick.

anyone whose butt is hurt by this is a titty baby.
