A lot of people liked it. A lot of people didn't.

I enjoyed it for what it was. I don't need to put on my pretentious movie critic goggles for every movie I see.

If this is the case than how is it underrated.

Pretentious movie critics are the ones that liked it. Normal movie critics are the ones that didn't. Same shite as Avatar and Mad Max

I was speaking more about this board. It gets shite on constantly. I don't think it's a bad movie.

I could say the exact opposite.

Is there something wrong with what I said?

You could. Backing it up with a compelling argument might be a different story.

If you say both:

"A lot of people liked it and a Lot of people didn't"

Then proceed to say you don't have to get all critical on every movie....

Then say the movie is underrated on this board, it makes no sense. Those are three statements are at odds with each other.

How can it be underrated if a lot of people liked it and a lot of people didn't, which can be said for every movie, but yet you don't want to get critical, which would be the way to discuss or determine faults and successes?

I'm not trying to sound like anything. In fact my ineptitude is quite great at failing to describe how bad Prometheus is. I just can't do it effectively at all it's so staggering. And for that, you have my apologies.

Because how can a film be underrated if you watched it and didn't engage it critically? You can't really "rate," a film effectively without attempting to understand how it fits in the fabric of film, it's creation, it's genre, the skill involved in directing, writing, acting, etc.

If you don't do those things, or try to "rate," it, then there's no rating to underrate.

If you enjoyed the film and accept there's people who both like and dislike it, to each his own, then yeah, great. Let's move on.

But to say it's underrated is to engage it critically. Unless of course you mean that people underrated it's "enjoyment," factor. Maybe the only thing you can determine without taking a close look at it. But then, "enjoyment," is subjective. No one can "underrate" enjoyment of a film.

The whole idea that she was going to take on an entire alien race with her one little ship that she has no real knowledge how it works, was crap.

Not to mention she would starve to death / die of thirst if she can't figure out how to adapt the cryo tubes to her physiology.

Not to mention the alien race would have to be almost as retarded as the folks on Vulcan. No planetary defenses. No Interplanetary defenses.

I didn't hate the first movie. Parts yes, but on whole I didn't mind it but the riding off on her revenge quest was weak.

Did she say she was going to attack them? I thought she was going to find answers.

Yeah, I got my memory somewhat mixed there. I think you are right but given how quickly the engineer attacked them, she still has the same problem of being wiped out before she gets close to the home world.

For all you know that ship is a billion times faster than what human technology has allowed. She could get to Earth and minutes and never starve.

You have no clue what the capabilities of that ship are. Neither do I, but to assume she's fricked is just as farfetchted as assuming she isn't.

No doubt. She's still screwed. David is the one that will get them within their defenses.

She wasn't going back to Earth. She was headed to the engineer home world.

Agree 100%. It was a flawed movie but she was the best part of it.
