the Mexicans killed Llewelyn.
did they? who killed the hooker by the pool? That has Chigur written all over it.

The above is exactly right. the Mexicans then drive off just as the sheriff is pulling up.
were they fleeing the cops or Chigur?

who killed Josh Brolins character?
I would argue this is the single greatest reveal in the history of cinema. You thought the movie was about Llewellyn, but then you find out in the most casually dismissive way possible that it is not. He's dead in a freaking motel parking lot in El Paso. Oh, did we forget to let you have that emotional moment with your believed-to-be protagonist? Sorry. Just another blip on the radar of endless death and disorder.

I think it speaks to the Coen's ability to tell a story in a non-traditional way - readers of the novel know that it is clearly the Sheriff's story from the beginning. In the film, it is told as much more of a triangle among 3, relatively, co-equals - until the end, as you suggest, and you get the rug pulled from under you.
And a great West Texas western film, set in more modern times, it is.

I don't think she was killed. Wasn't she screaming in the Llewelyn death scene?
no she (or some woman) is floating in the pool.

I can buy the Mexican's killed Moss and there was either a shoot out or Chigurh shows up late and they haul arse, but I have to believe he killed the hooker, that just plays into everything he's done all movie long.

Pretty clear he had the money when he crashed after killing Carla Jean.
Is it? How so? They show him walking away from the crash with no money. I know the money is basically a macguffin however.

I thought he pulled money out of a pretty thick stash to buy the shirt and bike off the kid.
Maybe I missed something. Could have been his operating contingency funds.
I think the book makes it clearer (as it does Carla Jean's fate).
