Watched the new Top Gear episode where they take three compact cars on a trip to the Ukraine. Did they take it too far at the end? I will take precaution and add the spoiler warning before explaining what they did.

*Spoiler Below*

They end the trip with which car can run out of gas fastest before reaching Chernobyl. When they arrive, the majority of the camera crew refuse to go in and they are left with a skeleton crew. I've read a few articles that compared this to them taking a road trip that ends at Auschwitz or Ground Zero. Thoughts?

Not comparable.

Chernobyl was a tragic accident. Many Ukrainians look at Chernobyl as a reminder of how bad things were under the Soviets. Nothing like Auschwitz or Ground Zero.

I side with you guys that it's not the same, but I can see where some Ukrainians may be upset about it.

exactly

it was like when Hammond talked shite about Mexico and then did that shitty PR stunt by driving that POS sports car around Mexico all while rubbing all of his theories in Mexico's face

and i respect them for it.. they stick to their guns at the sake of losing viewers, which btw, they never will

all that being said, i never try to catch a new episode of TG anymore, it just all seems to "try hard" anymore, yeah that sounds kinda lame, but the show just doesn't seem the way anymore

no.

In terms of being offensive Chernobyl doesn't even register on the scale of Holocaust or 9/11.

Lately, yes, they've become a little too scripted, but I still can't stop watching.

Does remind me of a Monty Python story.
The troupe was making a tour of Germany. During this tour, they went sightseeing, and this included a visit to the camp Auschwitz. When they were told that they where not allowed in, Graham Chapman said "Tell them we're Jewish."

Torrent site. They air a week early on BBC and people usually have them up about 30 mins after the show airs.
