Johnson and I Love Dick.

I'm watching Jean Claude Van Johnson now and this needs to be a series:

Jean-Claude Van Johnson is based on the premise that Jean-Claude Van Damme is not only an action star, but also does real-life Black Ops under the name “Johnson” (with his movies serving as covers for his missions). The pilot finds him in retirement (“real retirement … not Nicolas Cage retirement”), but a chance encounter with a former love (Foster) brings him back to movies and to his global quest to kick arse. He’s older now and a little rusty, which the pilot has a lot of fun with as he restarts his training. “No one is going to die, except all the people I’m about to kill.”

I Love Dick stars Katherine Hahn and Kevin Bacon.

I hear the Tick isn't great but everyone please watch JCVJ.

That might be the greatest premise I've ever read in my life.

JCVD was a fun movie. This sounds like an adaptation for a series. Had no idea about it. Will give it a watch.

Is the Tick based off the old cartoon?

22 years ago, fans fell in love with a TV version of Ben Edlund’s The Tick, charmed by the show’s loopy self-aware superhero send-ups. 15 years ago, fans cheered for a live-action version of the Tick starring the too-perfect Patrick Warburton. Today, we get a new Tick for a new landscape, and I’m already hooked.

In a world where superheroes have been real for decades, an underdog accountant with zero powers comes to realize his city is owned by a global super villain long-thought dead. As he struggles to uncover this conspiracy, he falls in league with a strange blue superhero.

Patrick Warburton was literally so perfect for The Tick that I just can't see anyone else in the role.

Yes, Van Johnson was great. It may be a challenge to keep it fresh every episode if it's made into a series though. I am in if they do, the pilot was hilarious.

Finally finished watching all of these this weekend. While the Tick was excellent...JCVJ is by far my favorite. The internal monologue is excellent...I caught myself horse laughing so many times. Of the three, this is the one I want picked up...My guess is that they will pick up I Love Dick...which was a distant third for me.

I will add that I watched The Tick when it was animated...and was a fan...but JCVJ was the tops of the three in my book.

Agreed when the Tick showed up and started spewing his ridiculous dialog I was all in. Whomever is writing the dialog for him has done their homework

"JCVJ" can't stay funny episode to episode. Most of the hilarity is only from the premise which was pretty much used up in the pilot.

"The Tick" was hilarious and my clear favorite. The Tick character was great.

"I Love Dick" was pretty awful in every way except for Kevin Bacon who is always great.

The only thing I didn't like about the pilot was the guy playing the Tick. He just had the look of a serious actor, not an innocent man child that says the most ridiculous things without realizing how ridiculous they are. Puddy was perfect for the role.

Have you actually watched any of JCVDs movies? There is an infinite supply of lines and cliches that can be used as plot points for this show. Then the cameos. Think of the cameos.
