Netflix pays Disney $45 million dollars to keep LOST streaming for one year, among others.

Scrubs $26 million for one year, and Desperate Housewives $12 million

I was thinking it was 3 million tops for them to keep LOST on that site, but Jesus, that's got to be more than Seinfeld money. Damon and Carlton have got to be rolling in the LOST dough over that Netflix deal.

And this was back in 2015 and just Disney, so I wonder how much they have to pay for shows like Breaking Bad.

It's the "safest" show that is in talks for being a goat show.

Not everyone is down with sibling incest and methamphetamine, unfortunately.

Breaking Bad is on there as is Better Call Saul. I'm sure they charge a pretty penny for that. If Desperate Housewives is that high, then Breaking Bad is almost certainly more pricey.

Either netflix has a lot of money to burn or a lot of people are still watching Lost.

Per episode: likely. Overall pricetag, no way in hell. Breaking Bad has 61 episodes. LOST has 121. That's a lot more hours of footage, and before Game of Thrones, LOST was the most expensive television show ever made for its overall budget. I still think the Pilot is the most expensive episode ever made, although Battle of the Bastards may have it beat, and I'd say Game of Thrones will certainly surpass it this season if they haven't already. It's a pretty penny.

If they pay that for another networks shows I now see the motivation for them to produce their own shows. Probably much cheaper.

Hulu has now bought the rights to all 180 episodes, the streaming channel announced at a presentation to advertisers on Wednesday. The exact price for the deal was not revealed, but in an article published before the announcement Variety speculated each episode was worth almost $1 million each. (New York magazine pegged the number a little lower per episode, at around $700,000.)

Last year, New York broke down what it called the "multi-billion-dollar 'Seinfeld' economy" by noting that the show had earned $3.1 billion since going into syndication, and adding that Seinfeld and David made $400,000 per syndication cycle from the reruns.

Seinfeld is worth $1 million an episode. It doesn't mention any time limit so I don't know if that's forever or just a few years. If its forever that's a good deal.

They are preparing for when Apple debuts their streaming service next year. That's when the bidding war for shows is really going to kick off

They've also cut a lot of shows. Their plan is to get the ratio of original content vs. 3rd party content down to 50/50. I think it was like 90/10 a 2-3 years ago.

I just wish Netflix would let me download all the non-original content like Amazon does. I work nights and it's nice to not have to stream that stuff if I don't have to.

I tend to give them the benefit of the doubt, from the start they've been way ahead of the curve. Slaying the evil Blockbuster when groupthink thought consumers would never turn on the in store experience, just before DVDs started to become extinct they were out in front with their streaming service, and then original content.

I just finished it for the 3rd time in 5 years.

Scrubs being gone sucks because I could turn my brain off, watch 3 or 4 episodes and be ready to pass out. There is no telling how many times I finished that series.

I'd have to agree. I missed the boat completely on Netflix direction years ago and thought they'd fall flat.

Lost has a love triangle involving adopted siblings and a story arch revolving around a character's heroin addiction and another who smuggles heroin.

So basically a poor man's version of exactly what you just said.

Charlei's story is more about him beating his heroin addiction than the addiction itself. But you are correct, he is an addict.
