Where is the actor from?

Decatur, Alabama. And if you think the accent is fake, go watch Sling Blade, Friday Night Lights(Movie), or Fast and Furious:Tokyo Drift.

will this show improve once it is it's own show?

the only enjoyable moments from the first episode was the dialogue between the original NCIS cast plus that new girl.

ok but is the show going to try and pass it as a cajun accent or an Alabama accent?

When I first saw the spin off I didn't associate this guy with Friday Night lights, I thought it was some weak attempt to sound like he had a NOLA accent or Cajun accent.

It was stated point blank in the first episode that he had moved there from Alabama. As to whether or not the show ends up being any good, it has a chance as long as they don't feel the need to cram 50 Louisiana references in every episode.

If they got that all out of the way in these two, then it has potential.

They will really need to have good plots and not rely on NO references and shitty accents. They're going to run out of references at some point. NCIS LA, CSI Vegas, NCIS DC etc. don't use that many local references. Just let the scenery do the talking and use local references from time to time.

that is what I thought too, but I have a feeling they got this guy because of his accent even though its not really a regional accent.

their HQ is in the quarter so not sure if they are going to back down from the references.

I found it kinda funny that they were on St. Ann Street and I guess bourbon and there wasn't many on the street than they went to the french market and it was packed to the brim.

I have a feeling when I watch this show I will be like yeah that part of town don't look like that

They can be in the quarter and not have to make corny references. I really hope they do have it out of their system and tone it down some. I really enjoy seeing what used to be my old stomping grounds on tv but it's irritating to see the people of NO and La portrayed in such a manner.

I do too, but I fear many of the cases will be based on Navy guys being killed while partying in the quarter.

I read online that they only filmed in NOLA for 4 to 5 days so I wonder if they built sets to mimic Nola. I noticed that when they were in french market that the buildings were slightly off. Note: It may be a pain to film a scene in the french market.

edit: the buildings are WAY off, it appears they tried to mimic the french market, and they tried to make the buildings around the market look like apartments, just looked off.

If the series is indeed picked up, portions will continue to be shot here. That's what I heard from some of the local crew.

so I guess the 4 to 5 days of shooting was for the two special shows.

I haven't been able to watch NCIS as much as I use to but have they done spin-offs before that didn't take off? I know they did a similar thing for NCIS LA but that took off quick.

Scott Bakula's accent is horrible. "betta call the mogue."

It's a morgue just say morgue, don't try to southern it up.
