Halfway through the finale and all I can say is this show is great. To make a person like Pablo Escobar sympathetic even for a second takes a lot of work, and they manage to do it flawlessly before hitting back with a reality check about how terrible he really was.

Spoiler
There were scenes were I actually felt sorry for him but the very next scene made me hate his guts. One of the best scenes of the entire show IMO is one where he finds his daughter's shoe and very next scene is the aftermath of the bombing.

Did the DEA know Pena was the source connected to Los Pepes at the end, and decide to use him instead of punishing him, or did they not know? Or did CIA guy actually help him out and just frick with his head a little bit?

Finished S2 a few days ago. Man, what a great, great show. I am glad I waited so long to watch it too, because I watched S1 only to find out/realize that S2 came out the following weekend. So that was cool.
Very well acted top-to-bottom, and the dude who played Escobar should get an Emmy nod, if not a win. He was fantastic. As some above me have said, I absolutely loved the way they portrayed him as a loving family man, but then also balanced that with him being a ruthless, heartless murderer and terrorist.
And I am so glad they didn't try to stretch Escobar out any longer than two seasons. That seemed just about perfect to me. And they also have new places to go, like with the Cali cartel as alluded to in the final minutes of the finale. And like they said, even while Escobar was down and out, cocaine exports actually went UP in his absence. So while he was a mastermind behind a lot of it for a while, it goes well beyond Pablo Escobar. I look forward to a change of pace in the coming seasons.
Really, really great show that I am recommending to pretty much anybody.
