Narcos for sure. I only made it through a few episodes of Marc Polo.

I'm halfway through episode 9 and not going to read the thread for fear of spoilers so forgive me if this has been discussed:

I love this show but I am completely annoyed by the lack of attention to authenticity regarding the rifles being used. Practically every scene with a rifle is one loaded out with optics and other tacticool stuff that didn't exist at the time.

Does that bug anyone else?

No dude. Take that shite to the OB.

Finished up S2 last night. It was a great season but I felt it dragged at times especially with the constant phone calls to his family. Can't wait to see them dispatch those uppity Cali frickers next season.

I would not have noticed that in a million years.

I've seen someone bitching on the Internet about some of the cars too. Like, "that was a 1988 BMW in a scene from 1985!"

I enjoy both shows FWIW. Narcos gets more love on this board then Marco Polo.

It bothered me that they had the optics so far down the barrel. It looked dumb. But I think those things were probably pretty close to authentic. There were lots of officers with no optics at all, too.

I didn't realize that the series was going to give us that new direction at the end. And I'm completely stoked about it. At the same time, I'm bummed that we won't get to see Pablo (Moura) unless there are flashbacks.

I wonder if as a B or C story line the series will focus on Tata and the Escobar children as Pena takes on the Cali Cartel.

Season 1 was really good. Season 2 was like a rise to greatness and it has an extremely intriguing direction ahead of it even with the strongest character in the entire story dead.

This is easily now my second favorite series I'm watching behind Game of Thrones. Well done, Narcos.

What a fantastic season! That finale was great. I know a lot of people saying they didn't like episodes 8 and 9 because they were too slow. I honestly enjoyed the change of pace. Can't wait for season 3.

Anyone else catch the real Peña and Murphy in the finale?

Just finished it last night.

Looks like the questions about if there will be a season three have been answered.

I was a little disappointed in the ending. In reality, Escobar and Limon didn't shoot any members of the Search Bloc. I wish they wouldn't have put that in the show.

The show did a great job of humanizing Pablo Escobar, as well. I don't know how devoted a father or family man he was, but they did a great job showing the character in the show at least loved his children dearly and was passionate about his wife and mother.

True but they killed Pablo's cousin in season 1 but he is still alive. You can see his cousin giving interviews in espn's 30 for 30 the tales of 2 escobar. It was about pablo and columbian soccer player andres Escobar.

I read "Killing Pablo" a while back. It's a non-fiction book chronicling Pablo's life and covers everything in the show. I thought they were pretty accurate with most things.

I don't remember any US official (DEA or other) being connected to Los Pepes. I also remember it was assumed that Los Pepes was also made up of members of the Search Bloc.

Well many of the members were allegedly rival drug traffickers. The 2 leaders Berna and Castano used to work for Pablo. But was thought that they had connections to Colombian National police and might have been funded by the Cali Cartel and CIA though none of it was officially proven.

Just finished the binge of Season 2 last night. Was great the build up to his fall was great...all the money in the world and trapped like a rat. Always wondered why someone doesn't "retire" once they get $40-50 millions in cash in suitcases.

It isn't about the money. It's the power and status. He couldn't be just some guy living in another country. He had to be the one in control.

Good point...just rewatch that scene with Pablo and his father in the barn with the pig. Pablo was asking his father if he's heard of him...and if he's heard his last name was known to the President of the United States because of Pablo. And that Pablo was a member of the House of Representatives in Colombia. It wasn't really about the money for Pablo...he had plenty of it, but judging from his outward appearance he didn't relish in his wealth. He wanted the power and recognition. The more he had, the richer he felt.
