Excellent except for the last 15-20 minutes. Turned a B+ into a C- because of the follow up. Should have ended in the apartmwnt scene when you realize the mute brother did it.

Been a while since I've seen it, but I do remember that it has one of the most chilling opening scenes of all time.

Yes Sean clearly knows at the stump meeting. No Need for the follow up. Leave the wife/exwife open. She added nothing to the story.

Iirc in the ending is the same as the book and leaves you with the feeling that Sean is coming after Jimmy. Also Sean's wife is a bigger character in the book and calls several times although I can't actually recall her speaking just calling to hear him talk.
I always liked the idea that Jimmy indirectly lead to his daughter being killed by having killed silent rays father for being the reason he went to jail. So silent ray grows up without a father and is a fricked up kid because of it.

Great movie but Laura Linney's "Jimmy you're a king" lines were offputting. People don't talk like that.

Watched it again recently and it was better than I remembered. The Laura Linney scene at the end and the Kevin Bacon phone call scenes would've been better left on the cutting room floor.
