Just look at domesticated dogs. Tons of them are overweight because the food is readily available.
because of humans.

The medical condition known as hand-to-mouth disease.

The episode I watched last night made me angry. The woman refused to even try to get up and walk pre and post surgery. Dr finally said if she wasnt gonna even try that he was releasing her and she didnt care. Therapy ppl would come in her room to help get her up and she'd tell them to come back later. Sent her home and it was another 4 months after surgery before she attempted to stand up. Said ppl just asking her to stand up was stressing her out. I assume the tv show is paying for the surgery?

Thyroid problems. It's not their fault.

I watch the show and find the psychology behind it fascinating. It's not all, but most of the people featured have some sort of trauma in their childhood. Abusive parents or sexual abuse seem to be recurring themes. Instead of dealing with the trauma, they turned to food as their coping mechanism. Almost all of the patients undergo some sort of counseling to help them with the underlying trauma or addiction.

That's completely false FWIW.
To clarify, diet is much more important to weight loss than exercise (i.e., the best way to lose weight is not to be active). It helps, though.

Southern Americans are some of the fattest people in the world
Their knowledge of weight loss is clearly demonstrated

I just saw this one last night finally. Is it just me, or do NONE of the newer episodes feature month 12's that have 400 pound net weight loss results and quasi-happy endings? Seems like they are all kind of unsuccessful bummers now.
I love Dr. Nowzaradan, although I think the show is effectively produced by him as an infomercial for his services.
Did anyone see the kid from South Louisiana episode? It seems like in addition to being obese, he was also possibly trans-gender.
Also, why is this show not in HD?

You got a lot of downvotes, but I agree with this. I was heavy but not obese at all. Recently lost 45 pounds down to 170.
It was difficult and I feel for the people who are really obese because I imagine just getting started at all has to be so hard for them.

And as someone earlier pointed out, many of these people suffered severe trauma during childhood.
One should always cherish what they have and not be too eager to look down on the types that are in this show.

I totally understand the other side of it, and people need to stop eating so much.
But once someone gets to a certain point, it's got to be almost impossible to change.

Yeah, it mostly just makes me sad. Dr. Nowzaradan is plenty tough with them. It's OK for the rest of us to have some sympathy.

Yeah dont get the downvotes unless they dont understand. You're right. You don’t necessarily have to run and hit the treadmill to lose weight. Diet is key. Limiting what you eat per day. Drinking a lot of water. Watching carbs and sugar is a major way to lose it fast. You'd be surprised how little you can eat and still manage to do everything you need. You dont need 2000 calories per day.
