What part of the politics of v for vendetta are you disgusted by?

What's ironic is how that movie was considered very "liberal" frick you to bush and the patriot act. However obama turned it into overdrive. If it wasn't so scary it would be funny

Well Obama is actually conservative as shite. If you graph him out on political graph his stances are basically the same as Bush's. At the moment we're a pretty conservative country

yeah, the government taking over one sixth of the US economy is very conservative. Maybe they should take over the oil and gas production also, and implement a 5 year plan. I don't see anything that isn't conservative about that either.

I wouldn't say disgusted, but The Hurt Locker is pretty damn right wing. It's a well-made flag-waving piece that fetishizes military service. If this were, say, a German film in 1941, we'd find it disgusting. I do have a problem with the way we idolaterize the military, the single least democratic institution we have. I find it ironic that those people who are most concerned about government coercion are totally cool with a massive military, the only way a government can actually coerce. Every oppressive government in world history relies on lots of organized people with guns. It's a total disconnect, and it bothers me.

Still, it's a fantastic film. But I'm morally opposed to the US having a large standing army, just like our Founders were.

Completely agree that V for Vendetta has a good message. We shouldn't trust our government/become sheeple.

What's confusing is that Bush was quite liberal in many respects, such as big government control of finance, education, industry, health care, to name a few. The left demonized him, but he pushed much of the liberal agenda and led a staggering expansion of federal government scope and power.

V for Vendetta's message is f'n horrible. V is far worse than the government in the film, which is pretty difficult to do, as it is pretty abhorrent. But the whole subplot of abducting and torturing Natalie Portman so she could share his experience is so disturbing and morally wrong that I'm flabbergasted anyone could consider him a hero even in the slightest. He fights an evil institution by being even more evil. Just because you oppose something awful doesn't make you any good. The biggest opposition to the Nazis were the communists, for example.

i don't think this is true these days

the pro-military wing of the "conservative" side admits they desire control, these days

The clarence thomas moment in Jerry McGuire... throw that crap in there on a really enjoyable movie and doubly retarded when you consider who was president when the movie was released.

Interesting. I can see how someone may view it that way, but it didn't strike me so much as the case. I thought it was actually a character study of a guy who was a fatalist and who couldn't really cut it in the real world. And I actually thought the movie demonstrated the futility of those types of military incursions.

I guess I'll never understand this line of thinking, but I guess that's what makes the world go round.

Well said Baloo. I finally saw V for the first time a few months back and it was one of the most hackish movies I've ever seen.

Did you watch the end of the movie? Specifically the scene where he turns the train over to her and leaves to what he is sure will be his death?

It's a huge point of his whole message that he is more evil that the evil which created him and it is not up to him to end that cycle because he is inherently a part of it

Not a movie, but the entire run of Boston Legal.

Yeah, I saw the end. And that is such a cop out. It's trying to have your cake and eat it, too. He turns the train loaded with explosives over to the person he has tortured and psychologicalyl manipulated all movie?

What a guy.

I'm completely disgusted by Karate Kid

You have to be brain dead to root for Daniel Larusso. He just couldn't leave well enough alone.

If i watch a video of someone poking a bear with a stick then getting mauled, I'm not feeling sorry for the person
