Ditto.

Also, Event Horizon - but only in theaters. Saw it again on TV (even a big screen with surround sound) and it didn't have the same impact.

Trainspotting - the dead baby parts in particular.
Better than any PSA could ever be for avoiding hard drugs (Requiem is up there too).

Not a movie, but True Detective makes me queasy to watch and think about.

I'm sure it's been mentioned, but requiem-for-a-dream is always my answer to these threats.

American History X. It's a rare case of "What a great movie... that I never, ever want to sit through again."

I feel like movies that are designed to be trippy or disturbing don't mess me up as much as movies that make me consider real life/emotional things. Something like La La Land messed me up in the sense of thinking about the balance between relationships and chasing dreams and how sometimes you just can't get it all. Inside Out. Etc.

I watched Lord of the Flies at an early age and the Piggy death scene stuck with my 10 yo mind for a while.

Super Size Me.

Didn't eat fast food for a month.

Then I found out it was fake.

That fricker.

Ah yes, I remember when that one started to unravel. "You are eating close to 5000 calories a day! Of course you are gaining weight and feeling lethargic."

Movies that messed me up... I haven't been able to rewatch Schindler's List since the first time I saw it. The Exorcist (original) scared me for months after watching it.

Loved the tv show but this is one remake i can get behind. not sure they can make it as creepy.

Eraserhead - Just so strange and unsettling. Like watching someone else’s bad dream.

Begotten - Didn’t even finish it. Don’t feel like I need to finish it.

Event Horizon - As others have already mentioned. I don’t know why this movie is so scary, but it terrified me the first time I watched it.

The Human Centipede, Salo: 120 Days of Sodom, and A Serbian Film messed me up just from reading the plot synopses. No thanks. I’m smart enough to know that once you’ve seen something, you can’t unsee it.

That scene is still with me.

Saving Private Ryan is one of my favorite movies but I still can't watch that scene. I turn it off every time

As a kid in the mid 70's The Legend of Boggy Creek scared the hell out of me. especially the part where the Bigfoot's arm reached through the window and grabbed the dude on the couch. frick that scene as of course we had a big window tight behind our couch.
