I seem to recall talk 10-15 ago that David Fincher was looking at making a movie version. And somehow Morgan Freeman would be involved.
More recently, the guy who directed District 9 and Elysium came out and said he wanted to make an Alien movie, but it fell through. He released a ton of concept art and it looked awesome. I'm pissed we got that dopey Prometheus instead of this. LINK
I'm not horribly opposed to the female Ghostbusters. If it looks funny, I'll go see it. If it looks halfway funny, I'll watch it when it pops up in Redbox or on HBO.

I am. Its pointless. If you want to add female characters to the original cast, then fine. But a remake with female characters? What the hell for? Ghostbusters is still a mainstream of pop culture in this country. Its not like it doesn't hold up well now, or is largely forgotten.

But thats just it. Its going to be Kristen Wiig being super awkward, Melissa McCarthy being super overconfident fat girl with lots of fat girl jokes, throw in the token black chick to say "Thats whacked", etc. Another formulaic comedy no different than anything else in the last 10-15 years.
