I think this would make a marvelous back drop for a block buster epic.

Maybe its time for another Buccaneer remake?

thoughts?

I just think its a great story about how Jackson came down to defend the city against the British's very best. Jean Lafitte choosing sides and lending a hand, then getting snubbed after he and his band of privateers saved the city.

The '58 version is good but dated.

Why don't you make a pitch then? This is your chance to shine!

lol

Is this not the place to do it? Surely Hollywood keeps its pulse on America by reading TD, right?

I'd rather see it as an HBO or AMC series

There are so many potential veins that a movie wouldn't do it justice

An HBO mini-series would be awesome. People would get wet for 19th Century French Quarter action, pirates/privateers, redcoats, and Andrew Jackson all rolled into one six to eight episode series.

You'd have to base it around the events leading up to the battle.

The Battle only lasted an hour and a half. and it was a slaughter.

But the events before with Jean Lafitte, Andrew Jackson, the city itself, etc. That is a great story.

I've been planning a movie about this for a while. Researching everything. Then I figured out that an HBO show in the vein of Deadwood and Boardwalk Empire would be a better option.

A five season arc beginning in 1807 about the city of New Orleans, Barataria, and citizens and pirates. Political intrigue, crime, etc.

Lead up to the Battle, which would be a movie to bookend the series.

*This is my proof that I am originator of the idea.

Funny thing about the battle...the treaty to end war had already been signed..the War of 1812 was over

Yep. But if the British would have won the battle, they would have kept New Orleans. They were of the mindset that Napolean was not a recognised leader and could not give away national land, which meant the sale of Louisiana would not have been recognised.

I am in full support.

Have you thought of a name for the series?
