I hate how you guys get to take all the credit with GoT and getting the plot right. But that shite is easy.
Here's my guess for how the plot of Mother! unfolds based off of watching the trailer twice.
SPOILERS BELOW
1) Javier Bardem plays Satan
2) Jennifer Lawerence plays the woman Satan is wanting to bear his child.
3) Ed Harris and Michelle Pfieffer are a pastor/couple Satan worshipers.
4) Everyone is going there to watch the baby be conceived. They are the congregation of the Satanist church.
5) Due to the nature of Satan and Satan worshipers...things are freaky for our leading woman...and she doesn't want to deal with Satan.
...
Extras:
Seeing as this is an Aronofsky film...
5) Jennifer Connelley and Mark Margolis will show up somewhere...Mark Margolis is a better bet.
Thanks.

Rex Reed's review is brutal
Like any review it will reveal details of the movie.

I've seen the film and honestly I can't say whether you're right or wrong.

How is Rex Reed not even 80 years old yet? Seems he has been doing this forever

Javier Bardem needs to only play bad roles. You could argue he was Satan in No Country..

That review is brutal and that movie sounds stupid and disgusting. For someone to even think of that, yet write a script about it is disturbing to me and they should probably seek mental help

I watched it last night. I'm not into films from directors like this but my wife is retarded and thought it'd be your standard scary movie with her fave actress so it was worth going and seeing her reaction.
I knew what I was getting into so I'm judging it for what it is and I didn't hate it. During the first third, I was pretty bored but in retrospect it set up the middle third well. The middle third was a solid tension builder and and Pfefier was great.
The last third was a nightmare. And I literally mean it was a nightmare brought to life on film. I enjoyed that aspect of it. It was kinda trippy in a good way.
As far as the meaning of it and what the story represented, I feel like it was pretty obvious from shortly after Ed Harris showed up.

Calling requiem for a Dream idiotic in the first sentence of that review you know you're in for a doozy if you throw that out first thing

I read the spoilers and yeah...I won't be seeing this mess.

Just saw it. What a massive piece of shite movie.

Saw this today, it was not one of Aronofsky's best but decent enough. The reviews don't surprise me because this is not something mainstream audiences will like. There's really nothing gory or disgusting so I don't know where that talk is coming from.
