Man of Steel. I was in shock and awe about how terrible it was. Like when he makes out with Lois on top of the corpses of hundreds of thousands and he's being heralded as a hero while his recklessness is killing thousands at a time.

BvS at least we knew from the start that it was a trainwreck, but not this. The trailers looked awesome and I couldn't believe what I was seeing on the big screen.

I might not call it terrible, but definitely over hyped. Avatar.

In my understanding anyone who watched it in 3D loved it, 2 D hated it. I was the latter. I don't pay 15 bucks at a movie to say ohhh and ahhhh, if the backbone of your plot is paper thin it is a crappy movie. Cameron was extremely impressed with himself on this one and its mediocre and I hope the next two tank at the box office upon further inspection fron fans watching it 2D at home.

It's Dances with Wolves , which I loved btw, but the Indians are blue.

I didn't care much for Avatar

Godzilla with Matthew Broderick. The promotion for that movie was everywhere and on every product you could buy.

i remember seeing the teaser trailer prior to a showing of The Lost World. I was so excited to see Godzilla on what was then the "new" imax type theatres.

A year later, the movie comes out and i don't know if i've ever been more disappointed in a movie.

Maybe not as much hype but Heisenberg bait and switch for toolbag from Kick arse version of Godzilla sucked as well.

Also Call Me Joe:
quote:

Call Me Joe: Call Me Joe centers on a paraplegic – Ed Anglesey – who telepathically connects with an artificially created life form in order to explore a harsh planet (in this case, Jupiter). Anglesey revels in the freedom and strength of his artificial created body, battles predators on the surface of Jupiter, and gradually goes native as he spends more time connected to his artificial body.

Godzilla is a great one. The Alamo according to the box office is one of the biggest busts. But I actually enjoyed the movie. Same goes with John Carter.

John Carter was a good movie. I remember watching the previews and think it looked terrible but ended up catching it on TV and was really impressed.

Phantom Menace is the correct answer

That wasn't hyped at all though. I had no idea that movie was being made until it was in theaters.

So you paid 10 to see a pretty bad movie? Might as well spend 5 more bucks to see a pretty bad movie but have a cool 3D experience if you're gonna take the time to go see it in theater. Just my opinion

Avatar comes to mind for me.

Yeah, isn't Avatar like the heavyweight champion of this topic?

I think the only movie that maybe overtakes Avatar is Phantom Menace.

My lord what hype that movie had...it was insane...people had been waiting 20 years for another Star Wars and we all thought it would be just like going home...

And then everyone saw the movie and lied to themselves about how disappointing it was and how terrible it was...because it was Star Wars. It took a good 5 years for people to start admitting that the hype and anticipation and love for the franchise carried a terrible movie to record box office numbers.
