Another one from Hans Zimmer - "You're so cool" from True Romance:

Meet Me Halfway Across The Sky from Over The Top. A few of you may think I am being an idiot saying that but if you watch the movie I bet you anything you will get pretty damn emotional when that comes on.

Most film composers are infamous thieves - "You're so cool" is a cover of Carl Orff's Gassenhauer, but Zimmer does it so well - and it remains one of my favorite pieces of instrumental music.

Jerry Fielding was another great thief - ripping off a military song for the theme from The Outlaw Josey Wales - probably my favorite piece of military-themed music.

Love "Time". Basically love a lot of Hans Zimmer. Really like "Flight" on the MoS soundtrack too.

As the child of Polish Jews, do you get the idea he might have been emotionally connected to the source material while recording this music?

morricone- the ecstasy of gold- good bad and the ugly.

isn't there a fairly famous piece from "requiem for a dream"? (edit: it was lux aeterna i think)

edit: also i think the scoring for pixar movies especially the really emotional moments are vastly underrated.

Michael Giacchino's score for "Up" was beautiful. It won an Academy Award, but the piece during their love story was too damn good!

May be the most moving piece of music ever written.

Also, The Anvil of Crom by Basil Poledouris from Conan the Barbarian.
