I don't get the hate for Moonlight and the undeserved love for Hacksaw Ridge. People on this board like hacksaw ridge more than moonlight because of subliminal racism, homophobia, and bloodlust.

Moonlight was an objectively good movie, obviously, it won best picture. Moonlight had great acting and character development. The beach handjob scene is the scene of the year and hit close to home in this coming of age film. Hacksaw was just bad. Terrible acting, cheezy storyline, over the top gore, and no character develeopment. It is another testament to how horrible of a director Gibson is.

Hesbobviously trolling but why does a movie with gay characters have to be seen as a "gay" movie.

Hacksaw is an overrated movie. Haven't seen Moonlight but it sounds like it should be called Menace II Brokeback Mountain.

It has one gay scene and that makes it brokeback mountain 2?

One movie is about miami drug dealers and the other is about cowboys? How dense are you?

It's not. I was merely saying that he was gay for disliking Hacksaw Ridge.

White privilege movie.

All those white guys got drafted - got to be on the front lines, in front of the bullets, fighting - got free luckies to smoke - - got to dream about getting back to Coney Island for a hot-dog and to see their gal.

Terrible acting

(Honestly...haven't seen the movie...but the few complaints I hear from people that didn't like it is that they didn't like the actor...Andrew Garfield, said he was annoying.)

If the main character is a cop, it's a cop movie.

If the main character is a gangster, it's a gangster movie.

If the main character is a superhero, it's a superhero movie.

If the main character is gay, it's a gay movie.

There might be one exception.

Basic Instinct

Despite the gay community protesting that movie like crazy - I don't think anyone came away from that movie thinking - now that's a gay movie.

Hot lesbians always get a pass...especially when they don't wear panties.

Hacksaw's action scenes were tense and awesome to watch. The love story was cheesy as hell. In no way did it deserve best picture, I was surprised it was in the conversation.

The whole first half of Hacksaw reminded me too much of Walk Hard to take seriously. Loved the war stuff though.
