Everything about this movie is just totally enjoyable and sometimes breathtaking/nerve wracking.

Great cast, great cinematography, and direction.

It was really cool to see Michael Shannon in a legit lead role, holy smokes is that dude talented.

I was kind of meh on Donald Driver before, having just seen him TFA and a couple of unwillingly viewed episodes of Girls, but he totally impressed me with his role too.

I haven't seen it since it was still in theaters but was reminded of it by a coworker today and I have to recommend it to everyone who is a fan of just good film. It reminds me of an 80s movie, but with certain effects that may not have hit home as well.

I agree. He was the bright spot in BvS. I cheer for him every time I watch BvS he's the true protagonist of that movie.

His reading of that sorority letter is one of the greatest acting jobs of all times.

Movies with the word "Midnight" in the title usually (not always) exceed expectations.

In all seriousness, he was one of the best things about Boardwalk Empire. It's tough to stand out in that role, in that show, but he did it.

yeah, I dont know why they would cast an NFL WR to play the dark side, seems like more of a TE type role

If you liked this movie I highly recommend Jeff Nichols' other two movies Take Shelter and Mud. He's on my list of directors I will see regardless of content.

That was only the whole point of the story. Would you chop that and just have a fun story about dad and his son on the run from the gubment?

I'd preferred if they'd done it in a less touchy-feely manner. I understand that a sci-fi film needs a sci-fi ending. I just thought that the tone of the film shifted way to abruptly.

And I'm a big fan of Mud and Take Shelter. The ending just seemed like a big left turn for the director.

If you're a Shannon fan, track down 99 Homes. It'll rip your heart out.

Yeah, it was fairly abrupt. I could have used some buildup or communications from the other world before he just "knows."

Also Mud is more likely to be a cult classic before midnight special imo

Stupidest movie I've ever seen.

Would literally want to /wrists before watching it again

I watched it on the flight home to see my family from 6 months overseas, the movie still pissed me off.

99 Homes was excellent, that movie definitely flew under the radar.

Shotgun Stories too is a fantastic film. Probably top 5 directorial debuts of the last decade.
