I'm not a huge movie buff, but I love comic book movies even though I didn't read them growing up. I watched the cartoons though . I have read on here quite a bit how DC fails badly in making movies. I guess since the most recent Batman trilogy DC has dropped the ball while Marvel pumps out great movie after great movie. My question is why though. I saw the trailer for Logan and I know it is going to be tits. On the other side of the aisle we are hearing that WW is going to be just as bad as SS and BvS. How can Marvel keep making good movies while DC fails miserably?

Because Marvel isn't retarded enough to let Zack Snyder anywhere near their films

Sounds simple, but I think it's pretty much this. Not just Snyder alone, but the overall ability of executives to evaluate talent just seems to be better for Marvel movies. DC movies just consistently seem to have those moments where you feel like 'what the frick were they thinking?'

Marvel gets some due shite for their formulaic approach, but at least they bring in people who can execute it well

I love the cover artist for that issue and contributor to that series, Claudio Castellini. One of my favorites. The book was decent fun, but the fan votes that determine the outcome cheapened it a bit. The Amalgam Universe was a little more interesting to me. Seeing Punisher and Wonder Woman as husband and wife made for a whole lot of fun.

I'm seriously not trying to troll nor am I baiting. Check my history on this board. I post more about Rick and Morty and other cartoons than anything else. I'm really just trying to understand why DC movies aren't turning out so good. Outside the last Batman trilogy, the overwhelming sentiment has been that DC movies are bad. Just trying to understand why.

D.C. tried to rush their cinematic universe and used mediocre scripts and directors to do so.

I think it's the filmmakers - that's a big part. Snyder and DC are trying for this seriousness and tone and it's just not working.

Marvel - for all its flaws - it's doing it as a fun ride and adds in the seriousness. No mean there were interesting serious plot/themes to the captain America movies (2-3) but they were woven into the plot well and you could just have fun without noticing or paying attention to them. I think DC hasn't found that formula and won't switch the "architect" enough to be able to find it.

It's more than just tone. Suicide Squad is just a legitimately awful movie.

Yep, DC saw $$$ and was in a big hurry. Crazy that DC has probably the best comic book trilogy with Batman Begins, TDK, TDKR and went to hell after that. Those three weren't just great comic book movies they were great movies period. TDKR has some flaws but it's still damn good. I do wonder how much longer RDJ can keep doing Stark and what happens when he's gone.

DC rushed to catch up, but also went way dark to the exclusion of joy. There's no humor or fun. I like the darkness to a point but the movies should still be enjoyable, not a chore.

They also don't feel "real" in the sense they feel like a grittier version of the Star Wars prequels. The characters and setting all seem constructed in a lab. Esp BvS and SS.
