have you caught onto this one yet?
retired detective wakes up in a bathtub, bloody, with no memory. Simultaneously, a serial murderer resurfaces from her past and she goes back to work.
its very British, and very suspenseful, in a good way
I have no choice now but binge watch

I'm about 5 episodes deep into this one. I'm hooked pretty good. It has the multi-layered, edgy, dark tones in it that I really like in a British crime drama. You have to stay on your toes to keep the characters and directions sorted out. I enjoy the challenge- as well as the challenge of putting the pieces of the crimes together for myself.

I finished it this weekend. I thought the show started out strong, but then started to lose me in some places.
Spoilers
Why the hell did they start off the season with Marcella all bloody in a bath tub, only to not reveal how/why she was there by season's end? How did everything go down at Grace's house? The taxi driver saw her moving a body and she also had the "flashbacks" of where the body was buried. My guess is that she did kill Grace the same way as the serial killer after she blacked out, which is what she was doing to Henry at his home. If she did kill Grace, why wouldn't Henry come out and say that he killed everyone else, but Grace. Why did Henry emulate the original serial killer? Also, what the hell happened with her and the taxi driver's brother? They just showed her black out and then wake up with no one there.
Maybe I'm being nitpicky, but in the end, the questions just seemed to keep adding up, only to never get resolved.

No, her brother killed her
Marcella just moved the body

What you thought was shitty, I thought it was fricking cool. Leaves wide open for a season 2

quote:Guessing she could have hit her head on Grace's counter, which is why there was another female blood sample in Grace's home and why she was bloody in the tub.
well, we know why, we dont know how
quote:Grace was alive when Marcella showed up at her house. They talked before she had her blackout moment. Marcella watched CCTV to see that she drove to Grace's house at 9:20pm and left at 11:16pm. Henry left his phone at the bar from 10pm to 11:50pm. Henry would have had to kill her sometime after Marcella left, and then have time to make it back to the bar to break in and get his phone. Did Marcella go back after Henry killed her to move the body? Did her blackouts really last that long?
No, her brother killed her
quote:Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the show. Just trying to get some ideas on what other people think happened. The most logical explanation is that Henry killed Grace, and Marcella moved the body for some crazy, blackout induced reason. But, I'm sticking with the theory that Marcella actually killed Grace, and that Henry didn't dispute the charge of killing Grace because his mission was accomplished: Grace dead. He wanted Sylvie to hurt, thinking that Henry was the one who took her daughter's life.
What you thought was shitty, I thought it was fricking cool.

Watched the first episode last night and it seems promising. With my wife and 1 yr old gone for a few days, I figured I'd take the opportunity to screen some pilots for her so we'll have some stuff to watch after football/holidays are over. Already watched the first episode of The OA and will probably check out The Travelers as well.
Without reading the rest of the thread due to potential spoilers, this show seems to be the middle-aged white woman version of Luther.
