I as torn with the whole final season. Loved some aspects and unsure on others. I rewatched it recently and really like the way they wrapped it up.
Peggy and Stan is an underrated television moment.

I loved Mad Men, but I didn't like how they used the coke commercial at the end. The problem is that song is so iconic for someone my age that ending with it almost seemed like a punch line of a long form joke with the show itself being the setup--a cheapening effect for me.
I thought Don sitting on the bus stop bench was a much more poignant ending. Then if they wanted to use the commercial they could have inserted it somewhere in the credits. This would have left a lot more mystery. Everyone would believe Don did it, but wouldn't know how he got there. Did he return to NY, reinvent himself in Cal or whatever.

The episodes preceding it were better, but the fact that Don came up with the most famous ad of all time was a cool way to cap it off.

I didn't like the last half season at all. There was very little interaction between the main players, and that was my favorite part of the show.
Mine too. Don and Peggy. Don and Joan. Joan and Peggy. Roger and everybody. But I guess he (Weiner) had to wrap up everybodys lives outside the business.
I liked Rogers ending. He will die jet setting within 5 years probably with 1970's medicine. But he dies rich and still partying.
Joan they set to be that 80 power business woman. I can see her at 50 with big shoulder pads in a business pant suit. She was alone, but she would find someone eventually. Maybe not marry, but find someone.

Not for me. I am 42.

Don just sitting on the bus bench pissed me off. I thought, "no way they leave him like this". And had that been the ending I would have blown a gasket.
But to each their own.
I actually read too many yahoo articles leading up to the ending. So the end was spoiled for me. One random article had nailed the ending. And when I saw the girl working the front desk at the retreat, I knew the article was right.
