(But, I suspect this is a reimagining/reboot, so not necessary, IMHO, to watch the others.)
Pretty sure this is supposed to take place after Thunderdome.

I thought it was between Mad Max and Road Warrior.

But it really doesn't matter. Mad Max flicks are pulp tales and are mostly standalone anyway.

I read it somewhere, but can't really find a good source.

Absolutely true.

ETA: LINK pretty much tells why the timeline doesn't matter

Very excited. Knew it'd be good. One of the few times a trailer truly was effective in portraying quality and not giving everything away.

Is it a reboot? Looks like it. I usually consider reboots with a negative presumption before seeing them but this looks damn good and Hardy is just awesome.

Visually it looks amazing. I kinda lose interest though when movies go into the mode where they shove as much off the wall and outlandish shite in a movie as they can to get people to say "WTF?"

Hopefully this movie isn't like that.

I agree.

I actually thought the trailer looked dumb. I may have to reconsider. Saw Charlize Theron on a morning show today, and she is still one of the most beautiful people on the planet. So I may watch it after all.

I want to see it.

we had to budget like $300 for the movies this summer.

Want to see Avengers (saw it), Mad Max, Jurassic World, Vacation, Straight out of Compton, Tomorrowland (kids), Fantastic Four, AntMan, and Terminator all in theaters.

FWIW I have blocked out "This Means War". Or it was Pine's fault.

people are saying that the story is a bit short on plot and character,
That's what it looks like in the trailers - just a bunch of action sequences.

I'm glad too see that it's getting good reviews, but that usually doesn't mean anything to me. I can't see it this weekend, but I look forward to the MB review.

I don't mind this though. In this type of film, just give me enough to care about and I'm good. Reviewers seem to be saying that the movie does provide this.

I'm seeing it either way, so it doesn't really matter. It could have a negative score on RT and I'd still be going.
