The Visit. Has anyone seen it? Is it any good? It sounds interesting, but I feel like M. Night Shyamalan always comes up with great movie ideas and hardly ever executes them correctly.

Is that the one about the kids that go to their grandparents house? Looks downright awful.

I saw it today. If you go in with the right attitude and aren't expecting a classic horror movie it actually pretty good. It's defiantly worth a view if you like horrors.

I thought the same thing after watching the trailer. Seeing the Grandma ask the kid to go into the oven I was like are you kidding me. But the trailer does the movie a disservice and I wouldn't base the movie on it.

I read a positive review earlier today. I'm thinking about checking it out.

Apparently the twist is that it's good. Some good black comedy

Well, from what I hear, shockingly, it's not a crime against humanity. Congrats Shyamalan; you actually seem to have made a mediocre movie. I've been convinced he's our generation's Ed Wood, and he finally made something not entirely horrible. It's from what I hear his best movie in a decade, and that is hardly a compliment.

Yeah 57% on Rotten Tomatoes isn't too bad. Especially if it's a horror movie. I think I'll go check it out.

Not only that, but it's a found footage horror movie. Critics usually hate those.

Nothing overwhelming, just a somewhat enjoyable popcorn flick and many steps above his last few disasters. The twist was pretty decent as well. I was always a Shyamalan fan up until Lady In The Water. Despite that and his recent busts, I still appreciate him for all his previous flicks. He's STILL the modern day Hitchcock in my eyes.

I read the "Labor of Love" script years ago and to this day can't figure out why it was never greenlit. It was a nice little unique love story that stood out compared to all the rest. If he can get his head out of his arse, I actually think LoV could be his comeback film (as I've read it's next on his docket).

i won't go that far but yeah i've never seen a guy with the kind of technical skill and established pass literally fall off the map like him

it's like his career went off the rails starting with the fade to black right before the end scene in signs (that ruined the movie. up until that point that was one amazing sci-fi/thriller/horror movie about a topic that doesn't have a great history)

i think he just was given too much too early and became really over indulgent. i mean he was in that zone for like 10 years. some people don't come back

Your thread title sucks.

Is this a horror movie or a spoof dark comedy spoofing the genre? I can't tell from the previews

When you make the sixth sense they pretty much say "do whatever the frick you want" after that. Unfortunately full creative and writing control on his movies hasn't been great.

I will say I at least admire him for trying to be creative and original in this day and age of retreading and rebooting.

I liked unbreakable, signs, and the village even though they were much maligned.

I saw airbender in theaters and swore I would never see another one in theaters again, it was THAT bad.

Did he actually direct this or just write it? The reviews have been ok so it might be worth seeing.

I plan to see it soon. Devin Faraci at birthmoviesdeath.com gave it a positive review, which I didn't see coming from him.

I hope M.Night gets his mojo back. The tone of his first 3 films are about as good as suspense gets IMO.

It apparently only cost $5m to make. The Numbers is estimating the advertising budget to be about $20m. If this can't open to around $15m+ he may be done as a director who gets wide releases.
