Fascinating story of someone who may be America's greatest song writer. Was never a huge Beach Boys fan until I picked up Pet Sounds a few years ago. It is truly and amazing listen with headphones. I thought the duel Brain Wilson roles were well done and Paul Dano gave the first performance I have not hated him in. (not him but the character he plays) Probably won't be in theaters long but work the watch.

Dano steals the show in every movie I've seen him in. Phenomenal actor. But I actually found the trailer to be hard to follow because he and Cusack look nothing alike. What were they thinking there? They could have at least used some Looper type CGI.

I was initially confused by that but it really works. Because Wilson was so messed up in the mid 80s it doesn't need to look like him to get what he is going through. Dano is superb.

I will definitely see it. I regret not seeing it instead of Jurassic World. That will be in theaters much longer.

Really liked this film. Dano was awesome and Giamatti was great as always. Makes me look at the Beach Boys a lot differently.

I actually don't find that Brian Wilson in the 80s looks anything like him in the 60s. Almost completely different people to me.

Just got out, and I'm a huge Wilson/Beach Boys fan (I keep Pet Sounds, the original Smile Recordings, and Wilson's take, and usually Friends, Holland, etc. on my phone at all times), but I loved it.

Really well done. A little too much of Dano staring, but it kind of makes sense in the story. Performances were solid all around, I liked the intercuts, and they really didn't pull any punches.

Great movie.

**********SPOILERS**********

Really solid movie. I wished there was a bit more of the positive side. The end was pretty abrupt. And her almost running into him with her car was a weird way to do it. The beginning was just so much fun that I almost wasn't prepared for the rest (even though I knew what I was getting into). The performing montage, watching Brian Wilson do his thing in the studio, and the first meeting between old Wilson and Melinda. All incredibly well done.

Very well done. I was never really into the beach boys but this movie had me digging into their music afterward.

I thought Dano and Cusack were both outstanding as was Giamatti. Very well done, never had any low points. Intertwining the time periods throughout is what I thought most impressive about the direction. Seems to me like a difficult thing to pull off coherently without too much clutter.

Solid film

My bother, who's 64 now, was a big Beach Boys fan. Used to sing the falsetto parts of their songs, when he wasn't singing Supremes songs. Kind of kept me from really wanting to listen to them. I'm four years younger, and was buying Allman Brothers, CCR, Zeplin, Clapton, etc.

I have heard a little bit about Brian Wilson's mental heath problems, but never knew what went on with him. After watching that, and paying attention to the little bit of music in it, I ordered Pet Sounds on Amazon.

I'll probably read more about the Wilson's, especially Brian. I have always heard about how talented he was. I look forward to listening to Pet Sounds, and learning more about how they made their music.

I'm like the OP with this being the first time I've liked a character played by Paul Dano. Giamatti's role was a really evil one. For Brian Wilson's sake, I hope his dad wasn't really as big an a-hole as Bill Camp played him. Up there with Francis Farmer's mom, in Francis (1982), when it comes to bad parenting.

Glad I caught this on The Movie Channel when I got home today.
